Just spotted the following (local to me) advertisement and I've made my initial attempt at contacting the seller. In the pics the bike looks clean, can't wait to see it in person. Any initial thoughts from folks experienced with this fine machine?

    1986 VFR 700F2 for sale $1800
I hate to sell, but times are hard, and you gotta do what you gotta do. Please give her a good home!

    It's got about 34k miles.
Had Valves adjusted at 33k (evolution)
    Carbs Sync'd (evolution)
Have a new rear tire not installed
    Front is pretty new
New Chain + sprockets at 33k (evolution)
New Fuel hose from tank to fuel filter 30 miles ago
New Fuel Filter 30 miles ago
    Heated grips with high/low setting
PC fan keeping the rectifier nice and cool
In Fairing LED lights (switchable on/off)
    Full yosh exhaust

    What it needs:
The rear tire put on (obviously)
A new battery would be a good idea
    Forks should be resealed

It starts up great in the cold runs like a champ.

Some minor cosmetics (pics when I get home tonight)

I see that you have one (86 VFR), what are your thoughts on it? Any particular likes or dislikes? Any nuances? :cheersaf:

i like the full yoshi system, which should mean headers as well as can, and the RR fan is a great idea too. (might have to copy that one on the gen 4)
The guy sounds genuine and honest about what it has and what it needs.

a visual inspection should confirm what he says.

gen 2 is the first of the gear driven cam models so they tend to sound quite 'mechanical' in the top end, dont be alarmed, this is normal.

personally i think the gen 2 is a sportier version of the VFR than say the next model gen 3, which pushed back towards the touring side, then on the gen 4 they pushed back towards the sporty side with some of the gen 3 syling cues-ie SSSA.

so gen 2 & 4 feel similar to ride to me.

as long as it checks out it sounds good.
