I was pished off this morning as I new something was wrong with my bike and the way I had put it back together

Filled the oil up yesterday, flushed and filled the water system, connected the battery and the starter motor up, hit the start button and just a winein noise from my starter, thought wtf why isn't the engine turning over. Got the jump leads out wheeled the bike around to the front of the house and tried off a new 75amp car battery, no joy just this wineing noise. It had gone dark by now and I was a wee bit upset she hadn't started so I thought bollocks I'll get up early and test the starter motor.

Took it off and apart made sure I put it all back together correctly, everything was fine so I'm thinking it can't be much because the other week when she was making a bad noise she did start in a fashion. I bit my lip and thought sod it I'm going to have to drain the new oil and take the crankcase cover off again {all my new gasket seal fucked ahwell} I did this and after sitting there scratching my head it dawned on me

I positioned the starter motor back where it should be, I noticed it lined up nicely with the teeth on another cog but that was it ...I thought but that cog doesn't touch the other cog to turn the other cog etc lol

Took the new starter clutch off and pulled off the starter reduction gear, I now know what the problem is, I must have pulled this gear off along with the Starter Clutch assemble last week and popped it back on not thinking which way round

Turned it around and placed on the correct way, tightened up the starter motor and connected the positive lead and minus lead to the battery and hit the kill switch, now with the crankcase cover off I was able to give her a quick wizz of the starter motor and check everything was turning as it should be before I reseal the crankcase and fasten the 13 bolts back up

Bingo, she was turning like a new un. :strong:

On with the crankcase cover as it looked like it was going to pish down, refilled the oil system and fired her up, bit of choke and she fired 1st time and ran sweet as a nut, boy was I glad she was running again and now she sounds absolutely mint just like a new un :bootyshake2:

Me missus was happy because I was happy where as before she new I was worried over it and having just bought the bike this happened.

Anyway just posted a little video :ncb:

I only managed to get my top fairing on and the heavens opened as I wanted to go for a blast up the coast road but gave up in the end as I would have been soaked

    Enjoy this short clip

Thanks mate, I'm really chuffed to bits now she's running again

Thanks to the fine people who helped me earlier on last week to diagnose the fault to get me back up and running..I thank you

Made up with myself that I have achieved something this week as I'm NO mechanic but I'll have a go at some tasks, that's always been the same for the motor car to

    Regards,

    TPR.

The sweetest sound in the world is your machine firing up after you've tinkered with it.
