When these discussions come up bout which vfr is better i always think, what would people think if say the 6th gen came out before the 5 gen?????

Would people say gee i don't like this new styling, it has these annoying whinning cams instead of chain ,and man have they ruined this VFR theirs no vtec, you could hardly call it a vfr????

Very well put! With that being said, I love my 4th Gen. My dad works for Honda and I can still remeber going to the motorcycle dealer when I was a kid (11 in '94) . While he was doing business I would drewl over the bikes. The 4th Gen was the first bike that really caught my eye and I loved the SSSA. I wanted one from that day. After I graduated college, I wanted to get one, but it was just a little out of my price range. So, I got a Hawk GT which I rode the crap out of, and still do. This past summer I changed jobs, increased the cash flow slightly, and added my 4th Gen to the stable. These are 2 bikes that I will probalby have for life, especially the VFR. It's just that good. :redface:

 

i haven't yet ridden gens 5 or 6, but based upon 18 years VFR experience i'd say that my 4th gen '97 is FAR better than my '86 700, but mostly because of the better tires/wheels.

the '86 is lighter, more gut-grabbing and has character, while the '97 is so smooth and effortless doing its business that it could be considered almost a 140 mph kitchen appliance!

for my needs, the 4th gen has all the power a sensible (ie, older) rider might want and has that intoxicating gear wine without the unnecessary compexity of fuel injection or VTEC or linked brakes, and it's very easy to work on, which later models are not.

 

I have a 2nd and 4th gen, and I'll have to say the '86 fits me better (I'm 6'1, 165). I haven't put as many miles on the '95 but it feels a bit cramped, I'm putting a 954 front end on it so my vote may change but it's hard to beat the older gen.

 

I bought a 2nd generation, Pearl White, '86 VFR700 on my 18th birthday back in 1996 for $2 Gs. "Mom law" only allowed me to ride/own a CR500 dirt bike until then.
Anyway, I've been so happy with it, that when I saw a 6th gen. Pearl White in '06 I thought to myself, "How could a 20 year newer version of what I already love NOT be totally and completely phucking AWSOME!?!?"
One day I will get a '93 3rd gen. and complete my whitey colection... Until, that is, when the ever so elusive 7th gen. comes in Pearl White.

i would like some spring time rideing, yea ill ride your 6th gen, i final got my buddy talk into rideing my fj1200, now i cant keep him off the damn thing.

 

my wife & i say the 6th Gen is the best!!!! we both love getting out on it - BIG GRINS everytime we ride it!!!!

 

As I told my X-gf(2hrs ago) vfr now,then a goldwing.No worries,HD's don't last long,except in your bank account.My gf is out of her mind.Some dude and her married boss bitch a pschologist.Hey now,This is not my wife.Burning down the house!Living in a shotgun shack.Love my VFR...DAMMIT.

I do think a mint pearl white '93 added to the stable as well would be the sniznits.

 

But are you as one utterly eyed as this guy selling his Gen 4 on Ebay, in his opinion the earlier Gen 1,2 & 3 were just Honda practicing until they got it right with the Gen 4 then a disaster from then on, mind shouldn't be supprised about hard core Gen 4 fans have read Rupert Paul say the same thing when he joined UK BIKE Magazine in early '04.

I just say that mine is the best TO ME. It is in fact the only VFR I have ever ridden and absolutely I love it the most. I have owned a Yamaha RD100, XT500, Suzuki GS750, Honda CB700 nighthawk, Kawasaki ZRX1100 & 1200, Honda VTR1000 superhawk, Yamaha FZ1000 and now the Honda VFR750F. The VFR is among the favorite of all.
I do like the look of the white '93 and the '07 RWB VFR's.

 

I have a vfr 2008 it is my first vfr and I love it but had to get it lowered as it was a bit high for meand I put some staintune pipe on it, its sound great

 

I've only ridden a 4th gen......and freakin' LOVE it! I'd like to try a newer one, but I can't see anything being much better than my '97.:thumbsup:

5th gen,so much quality,even the fairings have more meat than the 6th.
Everything fits right,plus that sexy gear whine, which is missing on a v-tec.
I spose the 5th gen has a (older) more traditional bike look about it.
The v-tec with the tinny looking mufflers under the seat has a ---trying to keep the young guys happy look to buy it?
At 50 i spose thats why i have a 5 gen, a bit old skool!
If i had a 6th gen i would feel like i would have to be running the lights and scrapping my knees to prove a piont to the onlookers!?
Where as now, i can (whine ) my way past comfortably, leaving envious onlookers wondering ---i wonder what that bike can do? it makes a nice sound?
Maybe if i were 20 i would be on a v-tec!!
