    I don't have a favorite any more!!!!
I absolutely love my gen 6 for its refinement, comfort, blah blah blah.....
Had a chance to ride a 2001 gen 5 and loved it too!!!!
It seemed smaller and more nimble.....engine was smoooooth and strong!!!!
I could easily have bought a gen 5 and be 100% satisfied......Just so happens that my gen 6 was in the right place at the right time for the right price!!!!

The 1000R has more motor than the 6th Gen, but it runs best when in a straight line. It also handles like a freight train. When I hop on my 6th Gen, I'm reminded what a great handling bike it is. It feels like a bicycle compared to the 1000R. However, I love them both!

I think the same thing when I get off my 2nd Gen. I'm convinced that it's all based on what you last rode.

i figured the 1000s wouldnt handle as good as the smaller bikes, my 500 has a strong mid range and pulls through the top end, thats what i was interested in to see how strong the 1000 pulls.

I have the 500 as well. It is a really fun bike and does everything well. The 1000 has considerably more low-end torque and mid-range. You can lift the front end with very little effort.

RVFR, your first post was so good. I was proud of you. Some one mentions pop corn and you jump right off the wagon and ruin it. Too bad.
I still stand by my first answer.

I only have 1st and 2nd gen.bikes but have all sizes and models ,latest being a vfr400 which will be my main ride as i live on Vancouver island which has many tight twisty roads to play on and i rarely see my speed o go over 120 kph.I agree that which ever one you own or ride is the best, even if its only for that day.

I have never ridden any other than a 6th gen i love the vtec its fun doesn't bother me what it does its just feels good when it comes on. Don't know how it could be bland or boring, or have no soul ( its all subjective ).

By the way i have never heard the gear cam whine! is there a sound clip i could listen to. I have read the endless quotes of how great they sound, would be nice to be able to have an opinion.

    This is my VFR.

There are many like it, but this one is MINE.

My VFR is my best friend. It is my life.

I must master it as I must master my life.

My VFR without me is useless. Without my VFR, I am bored.

I must ride my VFR hard.

I must ride better than my friend who is trying to catch me.

I must ride before it snows. I will...

My VFR and myself know that what counts on the road is not the miles we ride,

the noise of our cans, nor the smoke we make.

We know it is the corners that count. We will corner...

My VFR is human, even as I, because it is my life.

Thus, I will learn it as a brother.

I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories,
    its tires, and its breaks.

I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage.

I will keep my VFR clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready.

We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God I swear this creed.

My VFR and myself are the defenders of my sanity.

We are the masters of the road.

We are the saviors of my life.

I'm sure we'll end up hooking up for a ride in the Spring and I'll let you ride my 6th Gen and you can decide for yourself. You'll either love the VTEC or hate it. Me personally I don't care for it but it doesn't bother me enough to want to sell the bike. When I have the $$ I'd love to buy a 3rd Gen in Pearl White just like the one below. I absolutely love that bike!!! The red 3rd Gen isn't too shabby either. We had one join us on a group ride this last weekend and it made me realize what a mistake I made several years ago when I turned down an offer to buy a mint condition at a great price.

I like the 6th gen, but i don't comment on these threads as the 6th gen is my only bike. I can't say it's better or worse than anything else.

I do love my bike though and find it hard to believe the other bikes are as refined. I can honestly say there are no other bikes i lust over and would replace my VFR with. There are bikes i would like to have though.

I can ride all day long in comfort.
I can corner and keep up with the sport bikes in the twisties.
I can go to the track.
I can out distance the touring bikes.
    and look good doing it.

    all with a smile.

    My 2cents

I’m a new guy on the block and just love this site. I have a few bikes ranging from BMW’s to Triumph’s and now my newly acquired a Red 5th generation VFR. When I went to see this bike I heard that wonderful sound coming from the tail pipe and I was hooked. With 12k on the clock did some maintenance just to make sure she was in tip top shape. I just love the design of this motor. With Red not being may favorite color I changed the bike to a yellow pearl and I just love it. I would have to say out of all my bikes this little girl holds a special place with me.

Second gen all the way first 750 with the gear driven cams and the capn america color scheme the women love or at least that is what I tell my wife. Also she is not as fat as the other ones and no one likes to ride a fat chick. :cheersaf: Only down side can be hard to find parts (exhaust) but I love to ride her anyway.
