Rear wheel removal

OK. This is probably a stupid question but.....

I'm considering buying a VFR. I don't have any experience with a single sided swing arm. The rear wheel looks like it would be easy to remove. Is it as easy as it looks?

 

4 lugs.

In case those instructions were too fast for you, I'll repeat.

4 lugs.

So if it's a stock, older generation, you may have to do two more fasteners to swing the exhaust can out of the way.

Yep, mounts basically just like a car tire from anything I can tell.

 

You forgot the part where you put it on the built in center stand!
fairly neat we can do wheel changes with just a socket wrench...oh hey the tool kit comes with one...you don't even need to find one.

 

Its so easy I take mine off to lube the chain. 5 minute job. and you dont have to mess with wheel alignment or chain tension or getting the rotor back engaged in between the brake pads. It is a thing of beauty. I couldn't imagine going back to a conventional swingarm after 18 years of owning VFRs.

PLUS its got a centerstand!!!

 

it's awesome, very easy. i use the lug wrench from my car's tool kit. the center stand makes it even easier.

 

On my 5th gen you have to loosen the muffler and twist it outward slightly for the tire to clear.

Yep, pretty darn easy, snap it up on the center stand, Pop the muffler out of the way, 3 bolts 1 minute. 4 lug bolts, Wa la it's off. It's one of my projects here to convert it to one speed nut.

 

What size lugs are they?
