Question about vf500f brakes

    How thick are new front brake rotors?

    I cannot answer your question directly, but MOST motorcycle and automotive brake rotors have a "wear limit" stamped into the rotor carrier.

    Original thickness is not what you need to know, only that the rotor cannot be thinner than the size stamped on it...

    ...unless you're tyring to fit non-VF500 rotors on your bike...

    One way to check that's not reall scientific is to push the caliper pistons back into the caliper, install new pads in one caliper, and measure the space between them, adding a millimeter for spacing.

    Having custom rotors made is a VERY expensive proposition.

    I'll let the VF500 guys chime in here - you might be able to get some CBR rotors to fit or something...:unsure:

    if you want to check total wear....

    there is usually an UNworn area at extreme outer edge of the rotor for comparison.....
