Hey all. How are you? I just wanted to say hi first and second, ask a question. Does anyone know if there's any way to easily relocate foot controls on an 84 vf500? Or is there another easy solution that I'm not getting? I loved the test ride, and it was a good price so I bought it. I'm now starting to realize that perhaps I should look into this cause I'm 6'3". It's a little crammed on there you know? Anyway, still love the bike, and want to make it work for me.
    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome!!

Well, seeing that the foot controls are on a bracket, all you would have to do is fabricate a new bracket that moves your pegs and controls backwards.

Hence, you then will need to make a longer shift rod, and measure for new linkage for the rear brake.

It's not that hard to do, if your good with metal. But other than that, I believe there are some shops online that carry rear aftermarket sets.....I'll try to find them in my bookmarks for ya.

If you plan everything out, making rear sets can be challenging but also fun at the same time.

I'm still trying to figure out rear sets for my CB400F's.

    Cheers

Modifying the controls is more of hassle than it's worth. It would be much easier to just give the bike to me since I am shorter than you.

When I was younger I came very close to purchasing one of these bikes. I absolutely love the model that was made in candy red / white. We would love to see pictures of your classic bike if you have some handy.

Congrats on the bike and welcome aboard !!

    Regards,
    Rollin

Hey guys! Thanks for the info! You mostly seem a little leery about the cams though. Is there anything I need to know to watch for? The bike rode very smooth, but has alot of little fixey things, like the speedo dont work, and the tail plastic is needing repair. The turn sigs are screwy, and the brake light only works when you use the foot brake, lol. I picked it up for $600 with current tags. The bike has been taken apart/damage repaired before, so I dont mind changing a few things either. It's got a salvage title, and Those things dont bother me either. I'd like to onlly do a few hings like make the foot controls more comfy for a tall cat like me, and paint it a diff color. I dont want to screw up the orig paint plastics though, so If anyone knows of someone who would like to trade me for ones I dont feel bad about painting? It looks great, and seems to run great. Enjoy the pics! Thanks for any further advice!
