    Hi guys,
Can anyone explain the function of the Variable air intake solenoid valve ?
Reading through my service manual and I am curious.

Same for the Bank angle sensor ?

    Thanks

I believe the bank angle sensor shuts off the bike if you lean over too far. I could be wrong.

The bank angle sensor shuts off the the electrical power in case you are involved in a crash. This is so the fuel pump will stop pumping to reduce the risk of a fire related explosion of the fuel tank.

The variable air intake solenoid valve operates the variable air intake valve in the air filter box. The valve is designed to open at 5500RPM and close again around 5000 RPM. Its purpose is twofold--for one thing it causes a slight reduction in air intake noise at low RPM, but most importantly, it can increase the velocity of air entering the air filter box, giving a very slight boost in low RPM torque.

A lot of people remove it because they like the extra little snarl it gives the intake.

The difference in airflow it makes is only a consideration at or near Wide-Open. At light or part throttle there's no way you'd notice if the thing was working or not.

I'll try not to test the bank angle sensor the hard way....
