I've been having a problem with the FI light coming on while I'm running down the road and I got told to replace R/R (13.5v@ idle 12.2@ 4000).

I replaced the R/R and it still does it just not as frequently, now when I started it the FI light flashed 8x then kept repeating that until I shut it off and turned it back on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Also with the new R/R volts are 13.5@ idle and 12.8@ 4000

    Thanks

Update: I had a buddy pull the codes which showed 3 problems,

    1) faulty air temp sensor

    2) faulty mapp sensor (FI light coming on solid)

    3) faulty throttle position sensor (FI light blinking 8x)

We checked the charging system and found out the voltage problem was due to a bad stator which I'll replace tonight.

Now here's the fun news air temp sensor $16, mapp sensor $325, throttle position sensor $1,600 (can't buy just the sensor I have to buy the whole throttle body)

I talked with a mechanic at Honda when I ordered the stator he said to clear the codes after installing the new stator and see what happens, apparently the sensors are very sensitive to voltage (high or low) especially the mapp sensor, so know I wait and see.

Wow. I think I would definitely do the stator first at those prices (ouch). I'm assuming you have a '99 based on your user name.

I have also heard that mapp sensors in particular are very senstive to voltage variations, but the conversations at the time I was hearing this was about cars. Havent had to deal with it on a bike yet

Good luck, please keep us updated.

Im with ^^^^^. I highly doubt that all 3 of those items would go out @ the same time. possible if the charging system is beaging it up, however, the TPS is just a variable resistor & the MAP is a strain gauge, they should be pretty robust.
