Damn... I typed nearly the same message maybe one month ago. Just replaced the left mirror last week. WEnt to colorrite.com trying to get the touch up paint but you need to be a dealer. do you know where to buy it? I just got done doing an unrelated repair/mod today. I took a jigsaw to the gnarly looking rear fender and trimmed it up. it looks pretty nice until you get down real low and look up into the back end.

So I guess you know how I'm feeling right now....just checking out the prices but this is U.S. $$$ ...61.55 for left mirror...noe for the fairings ...I been wiping the fairing with the honda spray/polish ...It has cleaned out the dark scratches so mybe I can buff it out more with a buffer ...those are just the minor damages...the upper cowl has more damages it is deeper maybe I can buy some touch up paint tommorow at the dealer ( Cycle World here in Toronto Canada ) or Canadian Tire...If I replace it will cost $ 338 U.S. for upper cowl / weight handle bar leftside $ 12.46 .....arghh... Oh well I was thinking of doing the same thing with my fender also...check out some fender eliminator but cuz the stock muffler are to close together I didn't buy them. So I will most likely do the same...

Well went to Mcbride cycle ordered left mirror and weight handle should arrive Tuesday. As for the fairings I just buff / polish use a little muscle it came out cleaned so hardly notice the scratches as for the scuff marks I'll use some rubbing compound polish hopefully that will help but for the deeper srcatch no color match no can do my dealer says they do not make touch up paints They refered me to a auto shop that will scan my paint a will get a match...wish me luck..

I did almost the exact same thing 6 weeks ago; took a wrong turn up a narrow two lane mountain road and decided to turn around. From the right shoulder facing uphill I started a left U-turn, and as soon as I got crossways on the road the downhill incline overcame my 0.1 mph momentum, and down I went. I had three points of contact: left mirror, bar-end weight, and upper left side fairing. All salvageable, but scratched. Needed help from my riding buddy to upright the bike due to the incline (decline?).

My local Honda dealer wanted $536 for the left fairing (Lower Cowl), plus tax; my local independent repair shop wanted $400 plus tax. I found the same OEM part at crotchrocket.com in Arizona for $300.99. Do the math.

This stuff happens, but in the end, it is nothing major. Ride safe!

VitaminG......I still can hear that aweful sound when I went down, but I finnally got over crying about it.I replaced my left mirror / bar end weight ....but for the scratches hmmmmm....I'm still waiting for the right time for me to do the body work...I know you have to be real careful in applying the touch up making sure it is sanded well etc,etc,,...well I hope your ok with your mishap...getting over it is a lesson to be learned.

    Ride safe / stay verical.

Hey, I finally got the touch up paint and painted my scratches. I didn't really spend any time sanding them like I should have (I was afraid of scratchin my good paint) but anyway, the color was a great match. I forget the name of the company, but I bought it on ebay for $17 plus shipping. It comes in a little jar and applies like fingernail polish. If I had it to do over, I'd have my fiancee or her daugther do the painting as they probably could do it much smoother...

I dropped my 99 on a steep gravel driveway. Tore the hell out of the right side faring, mirror and signal. I even got the clutch cover. There are some deep gouges in the fairing. I had just turned over 11k mi. and thinking how sweet the bike still runs and looks. Oh well. I ordered mirror, signal, paint and plastic repair kit. We'll see how it goes.

I did mine that way, though no on gravel. I was parking near some other bikes and moving at about 1 mph and jsut touched the front brake and BOOM, dropped it. I need to bled the front brakes cause they are touchy like that, kind of like they reach a certain point, stick briefly then really grab. I probably need to change the fork oil too but those are dfferent subjects that i wont go into here.

After owning my perfect VFR for a week, i dropped it during dismount.
Scratched left cowl, broke clutch lever, the usual.:frown:
Stewed over it for a week. Scratches werent bad...but it wasn't perfect anymore.

took the cowl to the local paint shop. had the area buffed, resprayed, the clearcoated.

    $70:cool:

Don't buy new pieces. Never. Unless they are totally bashed.
Cracked, chipped, etc...putty and new paint. Waaaaay cheaper!!!
