Dedumboed and repainted 01

Fell down a few months ago after trying to get through a messy section of wash in southern AZ. I ran off onto the shoulder and the front tire dug in. I knew the turn was coming and also that it sometimes has crap at the bottom, but didn't scrub off enough speed and rest is.......old news now.

I had only had this bike for a few months, but really didn't feel like it was "mine". I didn't really like the paint job on it and had always wanted a bike painted rat rod style. While we were at it, we paved over the big turn signal holes and mounted some integrated turn signal mirrors. Have a look.

I have never really minded the dumbo ears, but every once in a while I think it would be cool to go integrated. Nice job.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Twice now they have saved my front fairing from getting torn up. Thanks for pointing that out, reg.

I guess as long as you only bust the lenses and not the plastic in the fairing that holds them in that might be OK at $35 a pop for them, however, the upper cowl will set you back about $465 unless you find one on CL or Ebay. :becky:

I am still waiting for Radar on VFRD to make some more of his slider kits unless you guys have another recommendation!

 

Nice looking with the flush mount turn signals. WHo painted the bike. You or prfessional?

 

Some of the plastics needed extensive body work done, so I had a friend (professional painter) do that and the paint. It's not perfect, but looks pretty good. I painted the wheels with good ole Krylon (2 coats primer, 4 coats base, 2 coats clear). Came out pretty well but chips/scratches easily. When I get the money, I hope to have them painted correctly at next tire change. That bright Ferrari type red is about $80 a quart. The Krylon route was about $25.

Nice to have friends. Ya my bike was rashed a bit from previous owner, not as bad as yours. Been working on body work/ paint for a few weeks now. Hopefully be done this weekend. Was all red, going to be black/white.

 

Sweet, another black 5th Gen!!! I found a guy to paint mine right after I got her in Sept. Paint job was $300 bucks and it included two clear coats, turned out pretty well. I've been searching for a high mount carbon fiber to match but no one seems to sell them any more in the US.

yes.. those galfer rotors are sweet, I love them!!! If I can't find a carbon fiber Remus or Scorpian I'm going the staintune route. The current Twobros is a empty rattel tin of a can and I don't want to mess with a repack now or in the future. I'm sure someone would love to have the empty can and elbow for a small fee.
