Has anyone had any luck replacing the OEM front end on a 1990 VFR 750F with an aftermarket system? After 15 years in my garage, my oem forks are corroding and I would prefer to replace with an inverted model in aluminum.

    Thanks

I have 45mm CBR900 forks on my '90 VFR. Not USD but a nice upgrade and it looks meaner too especially with the Thurn RC30 bodywork.

SOON very soon LOL I revalved mine before I sold it and the guy shit cause it rode and handled so good w/o steering damper (she tracked so good) It og had. I did a lot of tuning to that thing b4 I sold it... she was punching 170 RWHP (same as the '05 1000) when I got through ;):ncb:

Put F3 forks on it. You get full adjustability and they slide right in the triples.

REV, would that mean that 1994 - 97 VFR fork lowers are the save as the F3? In which case they would be a direct bolt on for a 1993 VFR, granted the rim and rotors are diffrent, but do interchange.

    Thanks
    Robert

    Front end

I have a set of 2002 VTR Superhawk 41mm forks with preload and damping adjustment that will slide right into the VFR clamps and use the same wheel and brakes. Any interst?

The F3 lowers are different: they have double pinch bolts versus single for the VFR. This may require using different wheel spacers. The forks themselves are supposedly 3mm longer than the VFR's but I haven't measured them to find out. The calipers will bolt on and if you go that route, find a 4G or F3 front wheel so you can use the floating rotors too. Also the fender mount points are slightly off, which will require slotting the holes on the VFR fender to mount. Or you could find a carbon fiber F3 fender instead.

I'm not sure you could install F3 parts into the 3G fork assemblies as you would want to use the damper rod assys and cartridges from the donor, but if the 3G and 4G lowers are interchangeable, you should be okay there.

It's easier (not cheaper) to replace the 3G forks with F3 (or Super Hawk) forks. You will still have to change the springs regardless of which route you go.
