Hello, I saw a post in google on how to install the hotgrips on a vfr. I just go my self a pair and I am wondering how hard it is to hook them up to the front light? I recently installed the tfi unit on my bike and I had to run a wire from the battery. i dont want to have to do this for the hotgrips i am considering buying a rechargeble 12v battery and hook it up to a gps mount. Any suggestions anyone has hotgrips installed?

Hi all, got them in. They came on saturday. A little bet of work had to unscrew the mirrors, the small bolts of the side fairing and the the front fairing off. It was very easy to hook up the wire to the positive of the front light bulb. I had to open the cover and twisted around. I did not put the resistor 30 omhs no need for adjusting. It is going to be either on or off. Very nice all though it did not work today. I guess my negative cable is not touching the frame but I will adjust it tonight.

Maybe it's your wording but I am really scared by what you said about your ground cable. "Touching the frame" is not the right way nor is it any way to properly install wiring for any reason. Only if you are using jumper cables could it be found acceptable. Just to clarify, you must FASTEN the ground to the frame. Find a bolt that you can slide the wire under, preferably using a proper connector. After years of electrical experience I can say that putting forth the extra effort on an installation will pay off in the long run. Good luck.

Yeap I think it was a wording issue. I hooked up the negative to bolt that was not touching the frame. I fixed it last night I tide the negative to a bold in the radiator like many other people do. I did not have time to ride it yesterday hopefully I will be able to test it out tomorrow morning if the weather allows.
