To all the forum's technical wizzards,
I have a problem which seems tricky to me but maybe trivial to
    others.
A year ago I had a nasty accident with my beloved black VFR. A cab driver
who changed his mind in the middle of the left waiting line for the lights
decided to cut to the right. He did it almost perpendiculary across three
lanes, while I was traveling at about 100 kph toward the green lights. Tried
to veer with him but lost the front in a hysterical lowside. The bike
rocketed into the cab and got stuck underneath. I spilled on the road and
came away with a dislocated right shoulder, a broken finger on the let foot
and some superficial scratches along my right side. But the bike, it got the
full brunt of the impact. Everything that didn't fit under the cab was
stripped clean. I was evacuated to a hospital and the bike towed away. After
a couple of week when I mustered up the courage to take a look at it I was
in tears. All the front fairings and radiators gone, the front cowl with all
the electronics shattered, handlebars broken off and in general a sorry
picture. On the other hand I was the owner of a basic 2006 VFR with intact
engine, frame, suspension and undamaged rear fairings. At the beginning I
tried to sell this basic setup but didn't succeed. Then I started to think
about restoring it to original. The bad news was that the cost of parts was
prohibitive, approaching the worth of the bike itself (here in Israel the
price of bikes is twice the price in the US and the parts four times as
much). Then I decided to turn it into a streetfighter. It took a few months
of shopping around to find a passing front mask, a GP style digital
instruments cluster, one piece handlebars, a convex radiator for front
mounting and a great looking "Screemin Devil" short muffler.
And here we encountered the big problem!
Nobody noticed the missing PGM-FI unit! It must have been lost in the accident or snitched by the tow driver.
This is where the collective knowledge of the forum is called upon to help.
I have a friend coming from the states in two weeks and gave him the assignement to purchase a new PGM for me.
The part number is 38770-MCW-H01. The problem is that the US part number is 38770-MCW-K01.
I need to know if it is the same PGM and more important, what is the correct start up procedure.
Sorry I couldn't resist telling the whole story.
I will greatly appreciate your thoughts and advices on the matter. Even sentimental support is welcome
    Thanks for your patience

Great story, sounds like you got lucky. Anyway, I am no expert but the part differences are most likely due to the different emission standards for the two locations, including calibration for the different emission control systems. Willing to bet there may two part numbers in the US one for CA and one for the rest. You can easily overcome any problems the different controls may cause by buying and after market add on that allows you to program the FI like the power commander. Hope this makes sense and helps. Worse case scenarios is the plugs are different but highly doubt Honda would have different M/F connections in different locations. Good luck and watch out for f'in taxis and other crazy cages.
