Hello. I just got here, and I thought I should introduce myself and tell my story. I entered the world of street bikes back in 2000 when I purchased an '83 V45 Magna. After some 50,000 kms of adventure, learning, commuting, making new friends, and generally making myself at home in the motorcycling community, it was time for a new bike. Actually, it was time at least a year ago. But I am of humble financial means, and it took a while to get my fiscal house in order. Well, thanks to a recent signing bonus, the sale of a boat, and a couple of other things - I was finally able to close a deal on what I think is the nicest VFR I've seen for sale any where in Western Canada for a very long time. By the way, I live in a little place in central British Columbia, Canada that goes by the name of Williams Lake. I'm calling this bike my grad present because after many years of Distance Education (i.e. corespondence), I finally received a bachelor's degree in philosophy and Dean's List standing from the prestigious University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. For the first time ever, I went to Ontario last month and picked up my degree at the convocation ceremony. So, here I am. I will have lots of questions as I learn my way around the bike. If any of you are familiar with the sabmag group, you may have already encountered me in cyberspace already. That has been my online motorcycle home the last six or seven years. I know that there aren't very many green 5th generation units out there, but does anybody know just how many there were? I'm guessing that less than 10% of them were green (in Canada - I don't think there were any green or blue ones in the US). But that's just a guess based on what I've seen for sale - anybody have any further insites into the colour/year distribution of these bikes?
I didn't even know there were any. yours is the first I've seen. The green looks very close to the paint I had on a yamaha seca 2 back in the early 90s. Nice bike (yours I mean) although my seca was decent, it was no vfr.
Welcome to the group Michael. I am with reg on this, I didn't know there were any green ones, though I have seen other colors. I would agree that it is probably a small percentage that were green. What year is your vfr? It is a nice looking ride.
Thanks for the welcome. The VFR in question is a 2000. I have seen a small number of other green VFR's of that generation for sale back in Quebec (internet makes it a small world). As far as I can tell, they were available in Canada in 2000 in small numbers, and MAYBE in 2001. Now, my challenge is keeping it looking nice. I have bad luck with keys, buckles, tools, and the like. Thank God for rubbing compound. Mike
