Key, on side stand in neutral. If parked on a hill it'll be in 1st gear.

It all depends on what the surface is that I am parking on if it stays in gear. For the switch vs. key method of killing the motor, its a crapshoot on which I use.

+1 for the kill switch. I can find it faster than the key and my hand on the throttle grip is close, so in the event of "oh shit!" --- I can pound it - shut it down --- "fricken now!"

That's been my habit for years - bang the kill switch off with my open fingers, then the key.

Dito, i use the kick stand...and always have it in gear even on the center stand. Just incase it wants to roll...also think it makes it harder to steal if the person does not know how to work a bike.....let me have my dellusions.

    2) Kill switch.
    3) Steering lock.
    4) Key out.
    5) Center Stand (sometimes side stand for very brief periods).

Skid sideways in to a parking space, lean it against nearest parked car, put magnetic Hells Angels decal on tank. Every time I come back it's never moved. Oh yeah, Key off.

    Interesting

The VFR is kill switch, 1st gear, clutch out, sidestand, key off and then out

my bmw gs is, sidestand. 1st gear, clutch out, key off and out.

my Kmco 250 scoot is sidestand, turn key and level dependant is sidestand or centre stand.

The funny bit is when you get off a bike and then climb on the scoot that has CVT, hitting the back brake thinking it is clutch can make you know what colour adrenalin is.

Yeah, I know that feeling: it happens when I ride the wife's Silverwing. Wakes you up right quick. Kind of like when your dirt bike has right hand shift and your street bike has left hand shift. :)

When parking at home or work (both on an upward hill):

While rolling toward the parking space:

    Kill Switch
Keep it in 1st gear (Normally no change)
    Sidestand down
    Key out.

    If im parking someplace else:
    kill switch.
    Nuetral
    Centerstand
    Key out

Neutral, steering lock, key. Never use the kill switch and there have been a couple times where the kill switch was off, I couldn't get my bike started and spent hours trying to figure out what the hell was wrong. As far as my brain knows, the kill switch doesn't even exist... except on other people's bikes at stoplights! Hee-hee!

neutral, kill with the key. Unless I'm on a hill, then leave it in 1st.

I just point the bike where it's supposed to park and jump off.

The presence in my bike, will then proceed to come to a complete halt. Engage kill switch, shift to neutral, engage side stand, turn key and throw the key back at me. Or at least thats what I paid for the upgrade to do.

    hmmmmmmm......

I always use kill switch not out of need just what I do without any thought to it and in first gear and that is a choice.

Yep, that's my method, too. Sidestand shuts it off, then either turn off key and dismount or vice versa. The only time I leave bike in neutral is when in my garage.

If only my bike had a spirit like that one... Can I pay for someone's ghost to inhabit my machine? A nice ghost, of a guy who loved bikes?
