There should be more public motorcycle parking..

Ever go to a store on your bike and have to park in a car space? :soapbox:That makes me nervous some a hole may hit my bike and drive off..:mad:I think there should be motorcycle parking next to the handicapped parking with poles around the area ..I wonder if the AMA could ever get this mandated ?? not a big area just a few spots verses parking on the yellow striped line and try to explain to the cop that i couldn't find another spot except out 50 yards from the door...What do you think??

I always worried about parking in car spots because of that exact reason.

I always back into the spot and put my bike as close to the open end of the stall as I can. I would really like it if the AMA mandated the parking areas.

Agreed but not just parking lots, but down town and road side parking.

If a city wants more bikes because they are better on the environment and cause less congestion it is as simple as changing parking.

Free bike parking down town, allow lain splitting, parking requisits for parking lots anf then there will be lots of bikes and scooters.

    I agree 100%

I also never pull all the way in. I leave my bike far back in the stall so the spot does not look empty.

we actually have quite a bit of moto parking out here. I guess between the weather and the traffic and such we have quite a few more bikers so it makes more sense for the stores. I don't like the idea of mandating anything if we don't have to but I am more inclined to choose a store based on whther they have moto parking even when I am in a car.

On a kind of related thing, there is a spot with 6 moto slots that I go by several day a week and very often someone who I think must work at the place parks a big SUV on them. I have always wanted to park in front and have a friend park behind them then just leave the bikes there overnight. It just bugs me that so rarely do motorcycles get parking and then they squeeze that big ass SUV in there effectively blocking 6 spots and pushing bikes out to the car lot (if they happen to go to this place). I wonder if there is a ticket for that. Is that considered a parking violation?

It should be considered in the same respect as Handicapped parking. But I doubt that it is since bike parking is not required. It was just a personal choice that a developer made when they built the place.
