This is my favorite color on this bike. And the chrome bar ends look good.

I am curious as to how it lost weight though.

    36mm throttle bodies are carry-over.

I thought the ABS model had a non-stepped hydrolic preload on the rear???
Was that only for Europe starting on 2006???
I think the ABS and the hydrolic preload are worth the weight and the cash. ABS alone I'd be on the fence.

My '02 has this on it, I believe it is standard on all ABS models.

Hmmmmm. Specifications for '08 and '09 don't list it. Anyone with an '08 want to chime in on this?

Sōichirō Honda is surly rolling over and over in his grave. Ever since his passing Honda hasn't been the same.

I agree with Drewl...is anybody really surprised that they held it just as is? I think the single color for 08 and 09 also states that they are aware it is a niche market and that they'll keep it going...but just barely. At least they didn't discontinue it! I like black. I like that it lost a few pounds at least. Even though a dramatically new and improved VFR would be really cool, there ARE plenty of other bikes available if you want a higher performance bike...there are Hondas (CBR 1000RR) if you want to stick with Honda and go BIGGER, the 600 if you want Honda and want to go smaller, there are some sexy other-brand Japanese bikes (if you want to vote with your money and show Honda what you think) both bigger and smaller, German and Italian bikes, and my personal favorite, TRIUMPH for several cool choices like the Daytona 675. I love my VFR. I'll always keep it. When and if they update it I'll consider it.
The only thing bad is that I might have to read 12 more months of "what if V-5" threads (Mommy, make it stop!!!!).:wink::wink:

I never did like the VFR name. My Interceptor is a V5 1000cc, and I have the plate to prove it. Check out the photo gallery. Maybe I can pretend it's a 2009 but the dealer was dyslexic.

    Hmmmmmm...

As far as the 2009 VFR goes? Well, I have the 2006. I wonder if it's the same paint. I get compliments all the time on the paint. They used a lot of gold flake and she shines real nice.

Would you all be happier if it only came in traffic violation red? If you don't like the color, get it painted!

As far as the DN01 is concerned? Looks like the design staff took silly putty on an image of a VFR and grabbed both ends and stretched it. (I'd shit if they actually came up with it that way, but ya never know!) Welcome to Hondamatic 2009! Least they could have done was give it a 1000cc displacement, and a GIVI bag option like the VFR. I do like shaft drive though. Looking at the handlebars I am sure the people that buy it are going to scrap them and get clip ons and make it look like a track bike.

I like the bike and the color but I do prefer red or white. Why change the bike? It does what it does well. Are you guys looking for a completely new model or just improvements? If it's improvements, what would you have Honda improve on the bike?
I'd buy one if the exhaust weren't routed up under the tail section. Due to that alone, my search will continue for 4th-5th generation model.
Maybe Honda is too busy pumping out VTX's that continue to languish in dealer showrooms.

The 6th gen's issues are pretty well known:

    1. More Power
    2. Less Weight
    3. Fix Linked Brakes
    4. Smooth V-Tec transition (or eliminate V-Tec)

My interest in the VFR has primarily been confined to the 4th & 5th generation, I wasn't aware of an issue with the V-Tec or the brakes.
As for the power issue, maybe I'm not getting it but the bike supposedly makes 100hp at the crank, goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and runs an 11-second 1/4 mile. That's plenty (and then some) for me. The way I look at it is that if I want something faster, lighter etc I'd be looking at a different Honda model or another manufacturer. Don't take that as a smartass comment, it's not intended to be.
The things that attracted to me to the VFR in the first place is it's V4 engine, gear driven cams (now gone), decent riding position vs other sport bikes and overall uniqueness (you just don't see them every day).
Maybe Honda will come out with a revamped model next year.
