Hi, Just wondering, from those of you that store your VFR for the winter, what you use to cover you VFR for the winter in the garage/shed? Thanks.
I store all my bikes in a garage year-round and use RoadGears soft flannel cover. Since my bikes are indoors all the time, I don't need a waterproof cover and feel they are too stiff, causing the cover to rub against the painted surfaces, and too difficult to gently put on. The flannel covers are very gentle on the painted surfaces and very easy to put on quickly. Google RoadGear to get to their site and I believe it's under their accessories tab. They come it 3 sizes and are priced around $90. They only come it red, but I'm not caught up in colors when it's a nice cover. If you want, I would be glad to send a pic of one of my bikes covered. Hope this helps. RocknVFR
I use a Nelson Riggs half cover. We usually have snow or ice a couple of weeks in Dec and Jan so I wanted something small and light that I could use on trips also. The cover folds up really small. Action
Thanks guys. That's just the kind of info I was looking for. I really like the idea of the flannel cover too. My bike will be stored in the garage for the winter so I don't need to worry about waterproofing either. I'll definitely check out RoadGear. RocknVFR, if you have a pic of your cover, throw it up. Thanks.
RWB25, I use the Sport Hibernator on the VFR. That size comes down further than any of the pictures show on the RoadGear web site (as you can see from the picture). I went out to the garage and snapped a picture and am going to attempt to upload it on the thread, but I have never done a picture on a thread before, so you might have to be patient with me in the event it does not work. Not that it really matters, but the VFR750 is the one in the middle of the pic. Take care and hope the picture helps.
Geza gear is a nice cover. it's soft, it stretches, and it works great on trips too. it actually loooks like it was designed to fit the VFR, because some of the lines fit the contour of the fairings....
RocknVFR, Thanks for the picture. All your bikes look nice and cozy. I like the fit of the covers. Very nice. Thanks for your help.
Hey Action, what size did you order??? Ive been trying to get a 1/2 cover, but they dont have any @ the bike shops I goto & want to order me one. Bob
If you are storing the bike inside, you don't need a cover. A cover, any one, will attract moisture. It's better to use no cover & deal with the dust than keep the bike under a cover & lead to premature corrosion. Since I PCS'd from Shaw AFB, SC, Sept 01, my bike hasn't had a cover on it for one minute. KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
I have the same as Action for UV protection only, and a Dowco for rain. Here is my Nelson-Rigg UV half-cover.
KC-10 FE, You raise a valid point, however the RoadGear flannel cover is made of breatheable material that is not sappose to trap moisture. I have been using these covers on all 6 of my bikes for around 5 years and have never had any issues with moisture leading to corrosion. Now, I have had moisture issues with a standard motorcycle cover used indoors even though it too stated it was made of breatheable material.
