I've been lurking here since I bought my 02 in April but this is my first post. I love my bike but I have a few problems.

The first is with the front brakes. When I check the rotors after a ride the left (while sitting on the bike) feels like normal operating temp while the right feels almost cold to the touch. Even after a fairly aggressive ride the right never really warms up. Is this a normal part of the linked brake system?
I took the right caliper off and the piston seems to be moving freely.

The bike only has 18000 kms on it. It has been doing this since I bought it at 12600.

Thanks for any help you can offer. This is a great site and has been lots of help.

    ???

I've never even checked to see if there was a difference, I'll be out riding tomorrow and let you know if I notice anything similar, might be a normal thing. I was always of the mindset if it stops, then I'm good. Does it brake ok?

It seems to brake ok. But then my last bike was a 1981 Maxim with 80,000 on it.
Anything brakes well compared to it. I know there was a PCV recall for this year.
I thought it was Pollution Control Valve and wasn't too concerned. Turns out it is for the Proportioning Control Valve for the brakes:eek:hwell:

Anyone know anything about this recall and what exactly the problem was?

    Linked Brake Sys recall

It was put out for the 02-04 LBS, but not ABS models. Apparently people were finding puddles of brake fluid in the garage floor. Yours might be this just that it's only leaking when the brakes are engaged. I would have it checked, better safe than sorry. I'm the second owner of my 03, wonder if the guy had this thing looked at when the recall was issued?

Ok, as promised went for a ride today, a rather aggresive one at that, ahh sweet therapy, and felt my rotars afterward and both were equally warm, almost hot, but that's Florida for you. My recommendation is to have it checked out, if that bike was never serviced under the recall, and the VIN will prove that then Honda should pay to fix it, if that's the problem of course, and that's a very big "SHOULD" by the way.

Cool, Thanks very much for your help. I'll let you know how I make out. I was pretty happy with how my dealer handled the wiring harness recall so hopefully it will go alright.
