Officially add DUCATI to the list of people that can kiss my fat butt. Why you ask? For turning this (quite possibly one of the best looking bikes ever made): Into this (even the head pipes are ugly): uke: I'm actually getting angry here. WHY ARE BIKES GETTING UGLIER BY THE MINUTE? SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME? Look at the Suzuki website. They still make the naked SV650. For some reason I can't fathom, they added a bike to the line up called the "Gladius" (sounds like a disease) & it is vomit inducing ugly. I simply don't know what Suzuki is thinking. LOL, speaking of Suz you see the 09 GSXR1000 egads.. Try this http://www.monster.ducati.it/index_en.html
I am not a huge fan of either of those ducs. I did like the S4s or some such with the red on white racing stripe a while back. Still not enough for me to pay those kinds of repairs costs, though. One of the docs at work got one and the engine already had to be rebuilt. In less than a year! insanity this one is okay I guess
I like the rims better....the rest you can keep, especially that loooooooong ass passenger peg bracket. Fugly.
I look at bike style like any other "style" that's out in the world. In the 80's we all thought mullet haircuts were badass, but now yer a tool if you're rocking one (no pun intended). If you think of some bikes you thought were super cool back when you were 17, you might think it looks retarded now. Same thing when you get older and you look at teenagers and say, "WTF are they wearing?" then remind yourself how ridiculous you looked yourself to others at that age. Same thing with Euro styling, they like stuff we don't. For example: men like to wear speedos to the beach and we like to wear the board shorts. I have always thought some Ducatis were odd looking bikes with their exposed frames and such, but that's what makes them unique and draws people to them. Personally, I think the Multistrada takes the cake in the fugly dept. I haven't seen the new monster until now, but those new wheels are freaking awesome! Can we mod those to our VFR? I also like the air scoops in the gas tank. Front and back are......well......that street fighter, chopped up sport bike look. I'll leave it at that. Regardless of opinion on styling, it looks like it would be a blast to ride too! http://www.motorcycledaily.com/03october08_ducati2009monster1100.htm
I must say I vehemently disagree with this statement. The blue bike is a S4. The RWG one is the top of the line with the super high zoot suspension but is basically the same bike. The single only thing I like about the new bike are the wheels. The look very similar to the wheels on the new Triumph Speed Triple. KC-10 FE out... lane: :usa2:
i saw a bunch of ducatis at the tail of the dragon during the womens sport bike rally probley more of them than any thing else
Man I wish I could explain it to you, but it definately seems to be a fact of life. Maybe students graduating from design schools should actually be going to culinary art schools instead, because several of the newest designs out there look like stuff that comes out of my butt! Vs
Seems like the VRod started the angular head light trend. Everbody wants to adopt it. Still its fugly. MD
I have never been a fan of naked bikes. Mostly because the instrument cluster and the headlight always look slapped on or bailing-wired on. The full fairing gives the bike face and adds to the muscular look in my opinion, not to mention the wind protection. A cafe racer appeals to me despite all this. These bikes look digitalized, erasing the lines that make a bike sexy.
I think the new trend is the wierder the cooler like the b-king. naked bikes rat bike stunt bike whatever you want to call them traditional styling is disappearing and the new futuristic wierd look is in or maybe they are just obama supporters designing them that would answer all questions of why there wierd bikes..:cheersaf:
