The V5 patent was filed for by Honda within the last year or 2 (please correct me if I'm wrong). I believe we Viffer enthusiasts all got excited over the possible reality of having a Liter VFR.

If Honda recently came up with or completed the design for the V5 engine, wouldn't they need to spend a little more time working out all kinks, working on the new body style, endurance testing, etc., etc.? I don't see Honda as being a company that'll rush a product out without being 100% sure that they can put their name on it. Honda is first and foremost known for its reliability. Considering that the 800cc engine has been out for ten years, I would have actually been surprised to have seen a 1000cc VFR cranked out in just a year. Everybody got far too frenzied about it. The magazines and their photo-chops didn't help either.

Look at the Blackbird. It's over 10 years old, and is well known for its refinement and reliability. It's looks are drop-dead gorgeous IMO, considering when it was designed; It still looks extremely modern. It has a die hard following. The same goes for the VFR. Does anyone doubt that the V5 VFR won't sell? I for one will be adding it to my stable when it is released, be it in one year or five. I'll still keep my 06. I considered adding a used Blackbird, but what I really want is a VFR with some XX grunt for 2 up touring.

Has anyone heard of complaints about Honda quality and reliability? I haven't. There's a reason why Honda products are award winners year after year after year. They'll release the 7th Gen when they're good and ready and there's NOTHING anybody can do about it. Personally, I'll prefer to wait and make sure they do the job right, as they always do.

I agree, but I know to as much one can in this situation it's been in the works for 5 years. I still feel there's something in the works, way to many folks all over this to be fooled. and I'm not talking about us consumers either.

I'm sure it all comes down to making money, like it should. I wonder just how much of a market there really is for a new vfr? I mean for real compared to all the other models they sell? not just all the internet I want one stuff we read... I would think they would want to get more outa that engine development than just 1 bike that has a small market? Probly more profit selling this one that has all the development costs done than a new one that might have a tiny market. I dunno..but I doubt everyone that complains was about to rush out and buy the new one tomorow...I was interested in one for next summer, but was not a sure thing either for me, would have depended on the bike and the price!
And a big IF is what happens to the economy.....
Good thing I like my old one...

Why even bother with a V5? They could have increased to a 900, tweaked the suspension and left the body work.

I'm back to an 848 v4. I still dont think the V5 make sense since MotoGp is an 800 v4. Honda was the instigator in asking FIM to go to an 800 v4 in the first place. And the v5 patent was filed mostly to protect the RCV211 racing engine. A v5 would be very costly for production too.

In the mean time get used to the 6th gen.

The new DN-01 is an automatic, unlike any other trans out there, its the worlds most compact CVT trans. Same logic would apply to this, but if you dump enough $$ into R&D anything is possible.

Here's Honda's logic: We will sell many bikes like this weired DN-01, but very few V5 VFR's.

    :unsure:Go figure...
