    Hey all,

I'm a newbie around here. Just thought I'd say hi and ask a few questions.

I picked up a beautiful 91 VFR this spring with under 16k on it. Retrofitted hard bags off an '03 and now have a great sport tourer.

Where is a good place to get parts for these bikes? I busted the kickstand cover and need a new one. I am also looking for a screw kit for the fairing, there are a few missing. The plastic on these old bikes seems very brittle... is there anywhere a guy can get a fairing kit for these bikes made with better plastic?

I am thinking of getting a new pipe... but I don't want anything loud. I like quiet... I just want something that growls a little more. Bring out that awesome V-four sound.

Performance modifications that won't affect reliability, longevity?

When I first got it I was running Battleaxe B020's on it. Then a set of Dunlop D208's, and later a set of Pirelli Diablo Strada's. Any advice on tires for these bikes; for longevity? for performance?

Any help would be much appreciated... thanks!

    Hello and welcome:

Well, parts for the 3rd gens are getting harder and harder to find.

Kickstand cover? I have no idea

Fairing screws? Easy, the Honda dealer, but they will probably be 5-6 bucks each!

    Aftermarket pipes? E-bay

Tires? Depends on what riding you do, but the Pirelli Stradas have recieved great reviews on here as well as the Continetal Road Attacks.

I would recommend new springs and oil for the front as a good upgrade.

    Check out Race Tech Inc.

And Thurnmotorsports in Germany still has stuff too!

Great upgrade doing jsut springs and oil.

    My 2 cents.

    Thanks Bubba Zanetti,

Both Racetech and Thurn are great resources. Racetech had an awesome site for setting up your own suspension and getting parts. Thurn has a great selection of aftermarket parts for the old VFR, including full fairings.

    Thanks,

    HO

    Parts for a 3rd gen

Again, fiberglass fairings are available from Poly26 in France.

    Service Honda for OEM fairings.

Nice bike and welcome. Come down and ride with us!

Parts for your bike can be bought from ServiceHonda. Way better prices than the dealer. You can also find parts on ebay.

Dunno if you will find a 'quiet' aftermarket pipe, try ebay again.

Performance mods? Hmm, exhaust, SS brake and clutch lines, jet kit (maybe). Definitely change the fork springs and oil, it will make a HUGE difference. You may have trouble finding an aftermarket shock for your bike; once again ebay is your friend.

As for tires, I use Metzeler M-1s; they stick like velcro. But this topic comes a close second to what type oil to use (Rotella synthetic ) so you will get alot of opinions on the subject.

First off, I have to say (3rd gen are my faves)
Secondly, if the break isn't too bad, you could get it bead blasted(or sand it your self with fine paper) and fix it. It is afterall ABS plastic, and you can get a welding rod and melt down ABS from your local hardware store or go to a certified paint shop and order the sticks - IF you are willing to do it yourself... it isn't that hard) if not... get in touch... mailing it me won't be spendy and turn around is fast! 30minutes? LOL good luck!

Also I recommend the Dunlop 220's, great touring ability and still hella cornering. Water shed is awesome, and one last thing... mileage and price ;)

How'd I miss this thread? Welcome. Yes like what others have thrown in, Service Honda should be able to help you out, that and keep an eye on ebay too. On tires, man, that's your call, but the Pirellis you ran on last are a great tire as well as the Corsas
