Thanks for the updates guys. I will be needing a new rear soon and were looking at these.

Any updates on the mileage you have on them.

I have the MICHELIN Pilot Power 2CT Tire on the back which stick very well.

The front is a MICHELIN Pilot Road 2 Its OK but it does not feel as good to me as the old Battleax did. Not sure what it is. Running straight its good tight turns in the mountians so so.
The tire shop didnt have a matched set when I went to have them put on even thought they said they did. So I got the mixed set.

I can say I commute almost everyday and use the bike for errands and what not. Hit the mountians on the weekends for all day rides and they have been doing fairly well. I have 7k on the tires now. I think the front may go another 4k the way it looks and the rear maybe another maybe 2k.

Just wanted to do some comparision of the life of the tire. If these are doing really well and almost half the price and last as long or close might not be bad. My riding is mostly non agressive for the commute weekends and the small occasion of an asshat around a bit more aggressive..

Everyone has opinions but I would prefer an opinion from someone who actually tried it.

Hi. I also use my bike as a daily commuter .. sometimes non aggressive riding and sometimes borderline aggressive. I cant review on longetivity (Fox Fader gives them a thumb up in that regard ) .. I've only done 800 miles on my tires and I am more than a little pleased. I am positive they are much better than the Dunlop 208's that they replaced. My next pair are going to be Shinko's (u can call them Stinko's but I'm the one smilin at the bank ).

i have a set i bought off of ebay (SHINKO 005 ADVANCE MOTORCYCLE TIRES)
i paid 180.00 with shiping for front and rear. ive put 1000 miles on them and love them . ive had all kinds of tires and i would rank them up there as some of the best. they have great grip in the curves. i took it down the dragons tail here in ga and had no problem.

Hmmm Thanks for the post. I was thinking of going with the battleaxe 021's but now I have to do some more research.

I had a set of Shinko's on my '88 Gixxer. I got them from a shop that screwed me for a buttload of $$$$ about a week before going bankrupt. >:p When I told my newly acquired mechanic, he made a very sour face. When I got the VFR, He recommended Pirelli Diablos. I love 'em!! I sold the Gixxer to a (somewhat insane) good friend. I witnessed him pull a wheelie while smoking the tire. He goes through about 2-3 rear tires a year and likes the shinkos 'cause they're super-cheap. I think he said he was paying about $120/rear (Can$$)

As a shop manager, I've ridden just about every tire out there, including most of the Shinko line (003, 005, 006, and 009). Based on my own riding experience plus customer feedback, I can say that the Shinkos are easily on the level of the Continental Motion, but well above the Kenda, Cheng Shin, or Vee Rubber budget tires. They are a decent tire if your primary riding is commuting or leisure pace. The 005s in particular are a decent all-around tire that withstood 7500 miles on the back of my old Bandit 1200. The 003s wear fast - maybe 5k miles for a chubby guy like me (230lbs). No Shinko models are muti-compound tires, so the choice is hard rubber for high wear that slide easily (009), super sticky/fast wear 003, or the 005 balanced single-compound tire. The 006 is available in non-standard sizes at least (like the old 18 inch sportbikes).
For my riding on the VFR (rapid commuting plus "spirited" backroad bombing), the Bridgestone BT023 is probably the best handling/wearing tire I have ever experienced, followed closely by the Pirelli Angel ST. I just simply don't feel the Michelins are worth the faster wear OR the higher price.
