I have two things: [1] Does anyone have two rocker arms in good shape they would be willing to part with? I have two that are slightly concave and need to be replaced before I button the top end back up. I know it's not good - but how critical is it to have the pad be convex vs. concave? [2] On a related note - I have tried to put the cams (with sprockets attached) back into their journals - but the chain doesn't have enough slack. I did pull the tensioner arm back and place a cotter pin in the pin hole like the service manual states to loosen the tension. However, it is still too tight and the cams will not fit in their respective places. Any suggestions on how to install them? Thanks in advance!
It sounds like you've got everything set up properly. Pin in place and holding both sides evenly?? It's not just in 1 hole is it? If so, the tensioner will still have some slack to give. Second, it may be that your chains have popped off there sprockets right by the cranks down below. Make sure there perfectly on, or they won't give you the needed slack. I hope this helps, LL
Thanks for the reply! I do only have the pin in one side. If it's long enough to put through both holes, it's too long to remove once the tensioner is bolted in place. However, I'll see what I can come up with. Anyone else experience this issue?
