I've been checking out the photo's of road trips you guys have been on, and can't stop thinking how cool it would be to throw my VFR on a boat or a plane and send it over and meet up with it and ride accross America and meet up with other guys of this board.

But I wouldn't even know where to start planning it. Can I ride an Australian register bike with an Australian licence on yank roads?.

I wonder how much it would cost?.

hahaha....that would be a pricey trip, unless you know Bill Gates or something.

I know your Aussie license is usually good on our roads for a period of 30-90 days I believe. After that, you would have to apply for an international drivers license if I remember correctly.

Hey, you need to change your flag under your name mate? Your an Ozzie, pretending to be a Yankie! hahaha!

Actually I think there's another aussie member named MLC? He also knows some good spots to swim.

Here is his profile page: VFRworld - View Profile: MLC?

You can try contacting him and seeing if he knows some good routes.

We'd love to see you here! How about just bringing your gear and renting a bike. It is easy to rent a Harley but I think many places rent sport bikes too. This is a big country...
...and we NEED your money too!

It would probably be cheaper to rent a VFR. I believe MEllo Dude said he once flew to CA and rented a VFR. That might be a better option. You could fly to LAX where you'd have best chance of being able to rent (hell depending on how long it might be cheaper to buy one, though.) I'm betting shipment of a VFR would be in the thousands. Hard to say which way would be cheaper. CA would be the place to start, though as you are more likely to get involvement. The other areas of the US that are on the board have more limiting factors like weather and less bikes and less airports that would be close to ports (in the case you shipped). Participation of members would be better in CA, too I bet. You could head up to the PNW then into Canada and across to glacier then back down through MT an WY and UT to Vegas then back into CA and that would make a nice trip and cover a lot of cool US West scenery...

One of these days, I'm riding all the way across, though. Maybe if that happens when you are able to come we'll make a trip of it and shoot video and make a movie like those other guys... We'll call it "The easy way across."

I see foreign registered bikes on Killboy's Dragon Photo site all the time, so it must not be that expensive.

    rental

SportBikeRental.com, Motorcycle Rentals, DUCATI, HONDA, YAMAHA, KAWASAKI, SUZUKI

dont know if the pricing would be prohibitive, but their locations would make a nice ride (SF to LA to SanDiego to Las Vegas).

Some of eagle rider locations have real bikes (most harley, but not all)
Locate a Store - EagleRider features over 100 rental outlets around the world - Locate an EagleRider Motorcycle Rental Store

if you are in the Washington DC area I would be delighted to host you and some rides.... would expect the same on my visit to Oz for a Philip Island Track day :)

AZsportbikerentals.com has a VFR and could pick you up at PHX for a fly and ride.
