    Hello everybody!!

Been a while since my last post and I was looking around the thread and I noticed alot of people having clutch and shifting and slippage issues with their older Ceptors. My first question would be what oil do you use? Remember, these old Ceptors are made of older components as well!! That includes the clutch plates!! They are engineered for dino oils only!! Any synthetic oil introduced to them is sure to cause problems!!! I luckily had to find out the hard way! And I said luckily because I only used semi-synthetic as a test before switching to full synthetic. My clutch started slipping a little bit almost immediately! I didnt understand what was going on at the time so I drove it this way for about a week. Then I pulled my head out of my butt and switched back to old dino oil and the problem went away as soon as it appeared!! What a miracle!! (yeah right!!) Im tellin ya, dont use full synthetic in your old ceptor!!
    PEACE

I'm running motorcycle synth in my '86. It's happy as a clam. My slippage problems all went away after I disassembled and rebuilt the clutch slave (it was rusting!!), and did a VERY thorough flush of the fluid through the master.

There was rust in the master from the slave...

It cleaned up with steel wool, new seals and new fluid.

It's weird how many VF owners have different results, but I think the percentage is weighing more towards the discontinue of Synthetic oils. Whether it be full or semi.

    Cheers

If you are using automotive brand synth oil, make sure it does not say "energy conserving" on it as this will cause your clutch to slip.
