I have a chance to buy a 1986 red white and blue interceptor 700 for $2000.00 in great shape with just over 17.000 miles my questions are is this a fair price? Is there a big difference between this bike and the 750? Should I hold out for the 750? The last sport bike I had was an 1988 Huricane 1000, I just don't want to be disappointed with the power of the 700 ...Help I just joined this site and need to learn about the bike I long to have.

Hello and welcome to the forum John! If you used to ride a CBR1000, you will have to get used to less roll-on power, but I think that the all around ridability of the VFR more than makes up for it....at least my 5th gen does (I used to ride an FZR1000 before I bought my VFR800). A 700 is gonna be down on power from my 800, so, that is a personal choice really. If you are set on and used to liter bike power, you might want to look elsewhere. The VFR700 is nowhere near as fast as a CBR1000. My FZR1000 was faster than my VFR800, but I will love my bike more than it....I just miss the roll-on sometimes (and not having to downshift to make a hard pass).

X3.........Welcome to the group. I, too, think you will probably find the 700 more enjoyable overall. Yes, you won't have the roll on power like stuka said, but the power it does have will be more manageable, smoother, I believe.

    Welcome aboard.
The older parts are getting hard to find.
    She's a beautiful bike though.

Thanks for the responses, Its been a long time and 3 motorcycles since I had the Hurricane (the three bikes were 2. 1981 c.b.s and a Harley) I know there will be plenty of power for me but I need to know is there a big power (or any power) difference between the 1986 700 & the 750 interceptor?
