I am not sure if this is the right section in the forums to ask this, but I see that alot of people have the rear seat cowl over the back portion of the seat. Was this a standard option? Did I not receive this from the dealer when I purchased the bike? I wasn't sure and wasn't having much luck finding it any where else on the web. I have an '08 VFR, so I had to ask, because if so, I need to call them and ask where mine is.

standard and included with my Gen 5. I would tell the dealership you want your cowl.

It should have been included. If they don't have it, tell them you want $80 which is about what it would cost if you bought it new. Actually, if you bought it from them, they'd probably charge $100, so maybe that's what you should ask for.

    Yep, comes with the bike.
Funny story...The guy I bought my bike from never put his on. So he gives it to me still in the bag when I buy it 7 years later. I pull it out, does not fit. I look up the part number...2000 VTR. So I call the dealer to switch it out. They ask who my salesperson was. Of course I have no idea. So...out of luck.

The moral--do it now, before it is too late.

A friend of mine at work got a 2008 vfr and he had to ask for the cowl, too. But they had it.

When I bought my 07" they let me get to the door and right before I left the parts guy comes running out and hands it to me...I would of left it and most likely never got it...I also heard rumors of the dealership setting up the bike for you before you leave with it...I got the "story" that Honda's are set up for 150-175 lbs riders and since I was in that class not to worry about it...I have since adjusted my suspension twice with much better results...I guess the dealerships are not like they used to be...2 weeks after the purchase my saleslady did not even remember me...

Alright, so I got in touch with the dealer and after a couple of days they called me back and said, oops, our bad, the guys in the service dept. for got to give the cowl and the back handle removal tool. I asked them to hold on tho it till I can get there. Sorry, long ride, 1 hour one way and it is usually closing time when I get off work. So, as soon as I can get down there to get it, we'll see. They were nice about and apologetic towards me, but as usual blamed the other dept. for forgetting to get this for me before I left. Hopefully, I can get by there in the next week or so.

Along with the cowl you should have also received two plastic covers. These cover the empty spots when you remove the passenger grab handles.

OK, so I got my cowl and the two covers for back handles. Looks good. Now, if only I can find some touch up paint for the few scratches I put on it this weekend. I lost my footing at a stop sign on a back road this weekend. It only put a few scratches on the lower part of the right side fairing. When I lost my footing I didn't drop it, but when I decided it was going over and I couldn't stop it, I did what I could in laying it down and easy as possible. Just a few scratches, hurts my pride more than anything, but if I can't get the scratches touched it won't hurt my feelings to bad. Got any ideas? or ways to make it less noticeable? I'll try to post a few pics in a different post after I get home from work.
