I live in Tallahassee FL where its quite wet, hot & humid. I keep the bike clean and covered with a DOWCO Guardian cover that covers from top to the bottom of the wheels. Im a little worried of fastners (nut/bolts), aluminum motor covers and such developing rust or either deposits that discolor the aluminum finish and dull it. When I had dirtbikes i would spray only the raw metal pieces with WD40 and wipe the excess off, making sure not to get any on the plastics, rubber or painted pieces. Is there any other product that i can spray on or wash with to keep things looking new?

    Joe :)

Hey Tally. I'm probably not the best source for your answer but I did want to say Hello and welcome to someone from FSU country. I lived in Tallahasse for a couple of years before transferring to Jacksonville, and now Bentonville, AR. You are right about Tallahassee...........WET, HOT, HUMID. I hear you all have been getting pounded with rain here lately and the roads were washed out near Kevin's Sporting Goods.
As for protecting the bike, I would make sure to keep a good coat of wax on all of the metal and plastic painted parts. There are numerous products out there that you can spray on everything that provides protection for the other parts. The Honda Spirits spray is a good choice, and readily available at Honda. Being that you owned a motocross bike, I'm sure you are already aware of Keeping a good coat of chain wax on the chain to prevent rust. I use Maxima Chain Wax. I would also keep the tank full if you are storing for more than a week out side to keep moisture from forming in the tank.
    Take care, and GO NOLES!

Thanks Benjammer! Yes...it's been very rainy here indeed. Lake Ella had risen over the circle of pavement that surrounds it! I will most definitely be washing & waxing the bike this weekend. Is paste wax recommended or would it be better to use a spray on? Im thinking paste would be a thicker coating but spray on would in all those tight places.

I don't know if this would work in your situation, but what I use is a Cycle Shell with one of those closet heater rods inside it to chase away moisture. So far it has kept the rust away despite the fog.
