Hello from St. Louis. I really don't have much of a story and I don't even have a VFR yet. I've been a Honda owner for many years and currently have a 2004 ST1300 for touring. I'm looking for something a little more nimble but not an "RR" so I thought a VFR might be appropriate. Hoping to read and learn and willing to listen to anyone's suggestions. I'm a big guy (270lbs) and worried about an 800 cc having enough power. Sure wish the rumor of a litrer 2009 was a reality. Anyway I'll check back here from time to time and keep eye on the market place. I know that I would like to have at least a 05 or 06 bike. I think I've read that VFR have been FI since about 2002 so must have FI. Thanks.

Welcome to the site. I always wanted to try out one of those ST's. They seem like a cross between a Gold Wing and a VFR. On the VFR, fuel inj goes back to 1998. 2002 was the first year of the 6th gen and vtec (chain drive cams). The 5th gens (98 - 01) have gear driven cams.

Welcome to the group, dogpark. You'll find a wealth of info here to help you decide. IMO, the VFR is a great choice if you don' want a pure sport bike.

Actually FI since 98 (what I ride). I'm originally from MO myself, but I'm a CA transplant now. Now I get to ride year round. The VFR will haul you just fine unless you are wanting to ride triple digits all the time. Keep your eye on craigslist and in the newspaper classifieds. I found mine on craigslist by accident. It was more than I wanted to spend but once I saw it, and more importantly HEARD it, I had to have it.

All good info guys. I'm not an all the time triple digit rider but I do hit them on occasion on a straight or something and I do tour on the ST but might take the vfr on longer day trips. I've seen a couple of 2002's on Craigslist but my ST is 2004 and I think I would like to have a 2005 or 06 VFR if I can find one. I don't mind paying for a bike if it's worth what's being asked. I admit, I do hate to haggle. But this is all good information and I appreciate it. Thanks everyone!
