    Hi folks
Just joined VFR World. Bought a low mileage 02 VFR 800 in the spring while working in Edmonton. It was in apparently excellent condition, but had the local Edmonton Honda dealer do a complete service as I didn't know the history of the bike and it had been stored for a couple of years.
The contract finished so I headed home to Toronto ...via Nelson, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Death Valley...you get the picture. Five weeks, 12000km and 1 set of tires my wife will still talk to me, and I had a good time. The bike ran really well even with luggage and a passenger for part of the trip.
When I returned had my local independent garage change the oil etc. and asked them to check the air filter as I had riden through 2 sand storms. Apparently complete service in Alberta doesn't include checking the air filter as the original filter was still fitted complete with a mouse nest of pink insulation...oh well I guess it helped filter out all the dust!
    I've attached a few photos.
    cheers
    Rod

That is really impressive, Rod. Any good travel lessons you culled from this trip?

A Heck of a first post and good plug for the VFR, a faultless 2 up loaded 12,000km's with a clogged airfilter and still on speaking terms with the missues not bad going at all.

The 2 things I learned. Places on a map are always much farther than you think...be less ambitious in how far to go in one day. Invest in a good communications system between rider and passenger...that's what saved us. We could chat, point things out to each other, warn of upcoming turns, maneuvers etc. Oh yes and stop often to look at stuff, places, people etc.
