Chain going over the sprockets sounds really loud and my mechanic figured a new chain would be the solution. I have a 2000 vfr 800 with 22000kms. Did anyone else ever have this problem and what is a good replacement chain??

original chains need replacement at around 20k miles, so you're nearly due. replace both sprockets too.

    i like the RK-XSO chains

I got 45,000 km out of mine but it was really in bad shape when I (or the shop) replaced it. And yes, while you are at it, change the sprockets too. It is metal on metal and both surfaces wear. To put a new chain on and not to replace the sprocket, would subject the chain to excessive wear. But WTF do I know. I have for the first time, just done an oil change on mine.

I always thought a chain was good until it hit the ground!!!!

HEY ! ! ! ! We aren't talking north main taxi cabs here. We are talking about our beloved VFR's Go back to the Villa and think it over.:vader: And that could be a long cold and lonely walk where yo live. I broke down in your neighbourhood on my bicycle a couple years back.

Yeah,It's a long walk home from town, but luckily the Villa,or the ever trusty Green Brier is always available for drowning of sorrows and a skanky peeler!!!!
Yes, life can be good, even with a broken bike!!!!!!

Somehow, a 10 mile walk wasn't so bad back when I had my sexy mullet and a belly full o' Bud!!!!!

Are you old enough to remember Gladys who shook up the Villa regularly. She was blond and about 350LBS. What a gas.
