I'm sure that her lack of weight (125 lbs) is causing most of the problem. Her weight is only approx. 22% of the vfr's weight. What seems like an easy task for somebody 175 lbs or more, is probably much harder for a lighter person. Not only does she apply much less force to the center stand lever, if the bike becomes unstable she will have a much harder time controlling the machine. Again, good luck VFR Chick

I'm 6'1" about 230 pounds and back in my college days I was able to squat over 400 pounds and bench about 250 pounds. In other words I'm no weakling and even then I at first had a hard time getting the bike on a center stand because what I was doing wrong is pushing down the centerstand without pulling up the bike. Once I realized that I have to pull up with my hand and push down with the leg it all clicked.

    but it's easy.
I can get an 1800Gl goldwing onto it's stand no problem with one hand...at the time i only wieghed 180lb's

It is mostly the legs, step down and the bike goes up.

I'm 5'8", 165 lbs with a lowered 06. I too had some difficulty getting the bike on it's center stand and tried every method suggested, my problem was my knees were straight and and I was leaning forward. I finally had success when I kept my knees bent and my back almost straight, using the suggested methods of grabbing the bike I simply stand up while pulling the bike to it's center stand. It's almost like doing a dead lift with a slight motion to the right at the end. Good luck.

I found it easiest to take the seat off, loop a hand towel or rope around one of the black bars located under the seat, and with my left arm holding the grip and right arm pulling up on the rope or hand towel, push firmly on the centerstand with foot. This should shift the weight easy enough up and forward to put on centerstand.

wow, a lot of activity on this thread.
in my experience i would say the bottom line is this: make sure that the bike is straight up and down before trying to get it up on the center stand. if you do that one thing, it shouldn't be very tough at all.

Yep, one that is lowered will be a real PITA, as you just changed the pivot leverage big time.

I'd caution against lifting both feet off the ground when pressing on the centrestand you might slip off- don't ask how I know this is a bad idea (BMW F650's are quite heavy when they tip towards you!)

Once the bike starts putting weight on the center stand you can stand it with on foot on the tang and the other off the ground to finish the arc with weight alone... but if you don't make it bad things happen.

Uh thanks for the explanation... now I'll explain... I was being FUNNY!! Don't be so serious man!! Isn't that a great visual? Hand stand on the center stand? Okay, maybe I'm warped, but I thought it was funny.

Did I mention that there was no one there so we all partied for the night, got pissed up then came back home to Canada and drew the 49th parallel on the map. Can't figure out what the hell happened at the corner of Manitoba, Ontario, and Minnesota. Someone must have gone for a pee.

Ha ha! - funny I never thought of myself as a BMW rider as the bike was biult by Aprilia! It also had a sprung sidestand so as soon as you took weight off it it flipped up - not always a good idea!

Well, since the bike you referenced in your post was a BMW, I figured you rode a BMW. Who woulda thunk Aprillia made BMWs!!
