    Hey Guys...and Shorty:vanity:,

Trying to remove the rear fender on an '07, but I'm struggling to figure out how to remove two 6mm bolts that secure plastic tabs underneath the fender. I've already removed the two 8mm bolts that you get to underneath the fender, but from the top there are two 6mm bolts that have square looking nuts (no, we're not talking about Derstuka's anatomy) securing them into plastic tabs. When you turn the 6mm bolt, the nut from the bottom turns.
Any help, advice would be GREATLY Appreciated.

    Hey BJ,
When I did my fender mod on my 2006, I didn't have any issues with the bolts. You're right, there are the 2 bolts underneath and then 2 on top. The two on top are tough to get to. Make sure that you are looking at the correct 2 bolts.

If you still can't get it off, (and if noone else has any other idea), I'll pull my rear fairing again and take a 'looksie' inside the back for you.
    Let me know.
    Gary

    Ben-
If I remember right, you have to remove the faring that is around the outside to be able to get to those nuts. Once it' loose you can slide it back out of the way.

EDIT - GeorigaRider beat me to it, work internet is too slow.

I went out and purchased a manuel that gives instructions on how to remove just about ay parts. I will look into it tonight. Right now I am off to Vancouver with the family or I would look it up right away for you.

Pics of the bolt in question

OK maybe this help. Notice the top two 6mm bolts and the bottom Square nuts they are attached to. How do you remove them?? Yes, the rear fender is missing because when I was turning the top 6mm bolt, the square nut turned and cut the plastic rear fender tab into.:frusty:

Sorry Ben. I checked that manual I got and it has nothing on fenders, just fairings and panels. Sorry can't help.

When I pulled mine, I used a pair of vise-grips to hold the square nuts. Hpe that helps.

yodasmile Hey ben! The way OSS says is the right way to remove it. Use either pliers or vise grip to hold the square nut in place, Then use a 1/4" rachet, socket and long extension to loose the bolts from the top. You might need to have someone to help if your hands dont reach that far. Now knock it off!

Hey Guys. Thanks for all your advice. After spraying some penetrating oil on the bolts and letting them soak, they finally gave it up!
