Hey folks, I was lying in bed last night thinking this scheme up. I have to replace both sprockets and chain, and I was wondering that it would be nice if the final drive was a belt. No messy lubes, adjusting, cleaning, blah, blah, you get the point. Let me know your thoughts,

    cheers, Ron

It is an interesting idea, and if you have enough money anything can be done. However, I would tend tothink there would be clearance problems at the countershaft. You would probabyl have to remove and leave off the countershaft sproket cover as well as relocate the clutch master cylinder. I am not sure what else would be involved. I have never had a bike that was belt driven, so other the reasons above (and isn't there a tensioner which takes the place of the adjustment?) I cannot accurately give an opinion as to yea or nay.

    I love belts!

My HD belt has 30k on it w/no adjustments and I'm pushing 700 lbs w/about 75 HP.

I've used belts for industrial drives. V Man is right. If you have enough $ you can do anything!:hungry:
