Anyone know the steps for clutch lever replacement?

Well, because everyone made fun of the carbon "look" levers, I opted for the regular levers.

Bike: 1986 VF1000R

So, what I need to know now are the steps to replace the lever. I have a manual, but it talks about replacing the fluid and not removing the lever. I just need to make sure I don't screw it up since right now it works. Anyone know what the steps for removal and re-installation?

 

Keep the Carbon levers...I like em. Otherwise remove nut from screw on bottom of pivot, remove pivot screw and replace levers...

 

Here you go:

1) Take the old one off
2) Put the new one on

All kidding aside, it's really very simple and straightforward. As mentioned, it's just one bolt and nut.

 

^ That seems like alot...anyone got any short cuts??

 

Shortcut:

Quickly replace old with new.

R & R clutch lever.

There is also a push rod that the lever pushes into the clutch master cylinder - just make sure it either stays in place during removal of lever or the push rod slots back into the master cylinder. Otherwise, it is as easy as previously posted. If you search the garage/maintenance section (i forget exactly where) a forum member did post step by step photo instructions.

 

Just make sure all those little springs don't go flying everywhere.

Unless you purchase used ones, the new set should come with instructions.
At least my Pazzo's did.
