I went to the honda dealership and was told my VFR, less than a year old, with about 6k miles is worth about 5k....I was heartbroken, then I see 5 yr old VFR's on ebay for 5k...Whats the deal...Anyone know what my VFR is worth in the real world??? I hate to think my bike has lost almost half of its value in 11 months...

I think your dealer was trying to BS you, trade in wise. As for my baby, I'll put it this way: She's worth more to me than the physical well-being of anyone trying to steal her...

What its worth to a dealer...
What its worth to a private owner...
    What its worth to you...

All different amounts for the same bike.

The dealer wont tell you what it's really worth just in case you want a trade. You can bet that they have an automatic $1000 variance built into any price that comes from there mouth, add on the amount of profit that they would like to make is about what your bike "may" be worth. So I would take your 5 add 1000 add about 2-3 or so of dealer profit and your total would come to around 8-9k.

    Hows that, better?

In the end though supply and demand will take over.

Wait, was elf being coherent again?

It's funny. I was just thinking about this subject yesterday while picking up my forks at he dealer. They have had a RWB sitting in the show room for months. It is sexy to me. I wondered what they would give me for my 2000. Then I shook my head and slapped my self and came home to my baby.

    Don't care. I'm in love.

I know new cars take a 2-3k hit just by driving them off the lot, I just didnt think a bike could loose that much value in such short amount of time...But like other members..The bike is worth far more to me than them...I still think Honda was crazy selling it to me for such a deal to begin with...Not to thread jack but...
I was at Cycle Gear and was told my helmet was to big for me. I have a little play left to right, but it is not that bad. I took out my cheek pads for a little more room (easier on my headphones) How tight should a helmet be?? Where is the line between comfort and safety?? DO you guys have super tight, bite your cheeks small helmets?? Maybe I have been doing it all wrong. Any helmet advice would help.

IMO, most new helmets anymore, are too tight in the cheek areas....so they can sell yyou the smaller cheek pads. Good dealerships will change them out when you buy the helmet - at the time of purchase anyway.

The helmet itself - how the shell fits the top of your head, should not have any slop. your head should not be able to move side to side in the upper part of the helmet. Shape will also affect this, as different brands and models are designed for different shapes of head. Try on as many as possible to get the best fit for your head, then change the pads if necessary for comfort.

    JMO, hope this helps,

    Keith

Yeah but mine is worth more to me than yours to you.

I figure I would probably put a realistic price tag on mine at about $6,000. I paid about $16,000 in the crate for the 06 but it is getting up there in mileage.

Like many have already said, mine are priceless. I don't have or want to sell either of them. I don't care what any dealer or book might say. They are mine and I love them. Selling one of my VFRs would be like selling an arm or leg...just wouldn't do it.
