I smashed all my turn signals and mirrors in my wreck so I'm looking for some replacements. any aftermarket ones I should check out. I'm not looking forward to spending $$$ on stock mirrors. Also do most people who use the flush mount turnsignals just go w/ the generics? any recommendations?

    Thanks..

There is a full set of front and rear on ebay. I'm going to bid on them unless you want them.

No I'm mainly interested in flush-mount options or signals integrated into mirrors.

stock mirrors on the 1st gen VFR's suck. i dont blame you for asking about aftermarket ones. look into a line of mirrors called Supersport made by Bikemaster. they allow a MUCH better field of vision than the stock mirrors, and are really cheap. the only trick is that the clamp that holds your stock mirrors wont torque down *quite* tight enough to hold the bikemaster mirrors in place, so what i did to get around that was to cut up a soda can and wrap a piece around the mirror's mounting stem a couple of times.

as for turn signals, Yohan is on the right track with those flush mount lights. the stems are ugly, and they eventually fail and youre left with droopy turn signal lights (and come on, thats just lame looking). Lockhart Philips makes a variety of them in different styles (clear vs smoked lenses, and different colored housings). you can find em on ebay, and they too are quite cheap.

the laws vary from one state to another as to whether or not turn signals are *required* on motorcycles. in texas, the only thing thats required by law is that you have working head and tail lights. as long as a cop sees you using arm signals for turns and lane changes, you cant be ticketed for not having lighted turn signals on your bike.

as for flush mount, id be truly surprised to see any state consider them illegal as long as they still function as the factory signals did.

In MD, if thee bike had them, they have to have them. But you can use hand signals too, as long as you're safe, the police are cool.

I was looking at some small flush mount for the rear. There were some on ebay that were 1 3/4" long, which is the same size as the mounting tad on the stock location. I just scored for the fronts the same looking flush as shown above, but a little smaller from a local bike repair shop I found today.
If any Harford County area guys need work done, Bill Snodgrass has a little shop in Aberdeen and has some old and new stuff he works on.

    CBF1000 mirrors ...

    Hello:

Here is a guy who installed CBF1000 mirrors on an '88 FJ (attachment of the mirrors is the same as the '86/'87).

Grabbed a set of the black w/ smoked lenses from LockhartPhillips They should look pretty good on my all black paint. I also picked up a set of decent stock mirrors off ebay. I had bar end mirrors on my old bike so I might switch to them at some point.. thanks for the optiosn and the ideas..
