Another question about suspension.

Well I went and looked at my first VFR. This was a yellow 00. I even took it for a test ride. I really wanted to buy it. My question is about suspension. I did a search on here and didnt really find the answer I was looking for.

Im 5'7 and 150LBS. I have a 29" inseam. The bike had a Sargent aftermarket seat on it and all I could do was tiptoe the bike. I was embarrassed when I returned from the ride and tried to back the bike in the parking spot like he had it. I tried for about a minute and a half with him watching me while I failed to back the bike up on flat ground in a parking garage because I could not get enough traction to push it backwards. He smiled and help pull the bike back into the parking space.

The only way that I could find by searching to lower the VFR was preload and the triangle bracket thing you reverse. I know messing with preload and the bracket may not be the best way to adjust suspension for vertically challenged people like myself. What are my options to lower this bike and would I ever be able to lower it enough safely to get most of my feet on the ground? Thanks for helping me out here.

:lol: What derstuka said is your best bet, just trim some foam off.

 

Im not sure how much foam was already taken off with the custom Sargent seat on it. He said the seat already made it lower. Id hate to buy it and try to remove more foam and find its still too tall for me. Man I hate these short legs. I may have to look for another type of bike now and I really had my heart set on the VFR.

There isn't a aftermarket rear shock that would lower it without suspension issues?

 

I am also "vertically challenged", [5'7", 190Lb]. Also have a 29" inseam. I ride a 2000 yellow VFR! Seat and suspension is stock.Yeah, sometimes on inclines, I have a rough time trying to back into a parking space. Usually I can find a way to pull through, or find another place to park. A couple of times I have had to get off and push my bike back into a space. It is no big deal. I would wear high heels if I had to, because the VFR is such a great bike!

I vote for trimming the seat a bit and choosing some boots that give a bit more height. But, just go for the manly styles...those stilleto heels won't go well with your hairdo.

Question me about motorcycles, about politics, but if there is one thing I KNOW it is music. While the Who created Tommy, in the public's mind, Tommy is better known via the popular movie which starred Elton John as the Pinball Wizard, Tina Turner, etc. His soundtrack version gets much more airplay on the "Classic" stations than the original Who version, despite the Who's version being the better of the two. Elton's boots in the movie were about 5 feet tall.
Music is my real passion.
