But... Would PVP plumbing parts be strong enough for a rear wheel stand? Sure most are of steel. Remember, I have Both sides of my swingarm.
Anyway, I was wondering if a glued up, Home Depot special would hold the bike? Love the DIY stuff

 

Probably the larger diameter stuff, just cut a 'U' in the inside top. A several foot length and a couple of elbows shouldn't be too expensive to experiment with. But I would keep an eye on it, if it cuts loose--the bike is on the floor.

 

You could always put the money you save on the stand towards the repair bill if the bike falls off the stand! :wink:

 

This is one of those cases where it is more appropriate to use the right tool for the right job. Sure, you can pound nails with a 1/2" ratchet handle or remove lug nuts with vice grips. Now, would you want to do either of those? If you are going to ghetto rig something like this, I would think 2X3 or 2X4 would be a stronger choice.

Or you could quit being cheap & buy an adjustable rear wheel stand at any motorcycle dealer for right around $100.

IMO, I would not recommend going the inexpensive (cheap) route for this. I for one would not want to find my pride and joy laying on the ground/garage floor one day because my homemade rear stand didn't hold up.
