Popping and girgling sound on decel with new slipon normal?

I just installed a new BMC airfilter and a TBR slip-on exhaust. My bike had a very noticeable increase in power at all ranges. I love the sound of the exhaust but I just want to make sure that I don't have a pre-ignition problem going on. I live at 2500ft. On decel you can hear from the exhaust a popping/gurgling noise. I personally Like the sound cuz it sounds sorta Harleyish but I dont want my bike to damage itself if this is an indication of a problem with the jets needing to be adjusted.

Is this normal to be able to hear these things with a louder slip on exhaust?

 

WITH idling engine block off the end of your exhaust with a rag (......don't use a cat, you hooligan !!)) and check for chuffing and puffing at various places along exhaust pipe possibly from a bad or missing gasket......

 

Well where the slip on connects to the rest of the bikes exhaust system there was no gasket to put between the two merging parts...just a medal ring that I tighted over the slip on to connect the two pieces. Is there suppose to be a gasket there?

 

do you have an air leak at that point????

for the popping, try opening up the mixture screws ( IF you can get to the buggers......very difficult on this bike !!) about 1/2 turn and see if that helps......

 

K, ill try getting to the srews in a few days when I get a day off. Wouldnt letting in more fuel mixture cause it to idle higher though? Already idles at 1500. I really do not know much about engine mechanics.

 

the idle speed is easily and precisely adjustable with the screw provided, know where you can find it ?
