How do you remove the clip ons on 92 VFR?

Ok, I posted another thread asking about the top yoke, but maybe I've got the terms wrong... Can anyone help me figure out how to remove the clip ons without messing up the forks?

Geez, and you actually ride a bike ?

Remove the small steel spring clips around the fork leg (if still fitted).
Undo 1 (yes ONE) hex bolt on the clip on. Lift clip on off forks.
How difficult could that be ? ...

 

pretty difficult, if you don't know there's a spring clip on it. I already found it, but thanks!
