Ok, so this is not about a VFR, but its still about a Honda...

Was out taking a ride this morning and got passed by a guy on a Goldwing. We hit some nice curves and I was taking them at about 80 mph -- not pushing it but still within the mild fun range. Figured I would catch up with the dude pretty quickly, but did not. Sped up a bit and got behind him and watched as he handled the curves. I know that Goldwings are supposed to handle well for full-dressers, but while obviously the bikes are no match in the twisties this thing was handling these fast curves in a dead straight line and no wallowing.

Don't know that I would ever own one, but I sure was impressed.

If you ever have any doubts as to the abilities of a Honda GoldWing, do a YouTube search for "Yellow Wolf". I think that's what he's listed under. YouTube is blocked when I'm deployed so I can't look it up. Anyway, this guy will have your jaw on the floor. He has several videos up & in one of them, he's leaving an older CBR600 in the dust. You can actually see the CBR's tach & he running it up into the 13000rpm range trying to keep up & can't. This guy has got to be one of the best riders on Planet Earth.

If I am ever interested in a 2 wheeled land couch, it will most assuredly be a GoldWing.

My God that is amazing video! The most amazing thing is how he changes direction. Says a lot about the Goldwing that it can handle being driven like that.

Like I said, that guy has to be one of the best riders ever.

I've only ridden a GoldWing once & I can't say I liked it too much. It's simply too big & too much. It was as comfortable as humanly possible while on a motorcycle but that's not why I ride. Are they awesome bikes? Absolutely. Do I want one? Not at this time. I think a ST1300 or BMW R1200ST would be more my speed when the time comes to get a real touring bike.

there's a bunch of mature types in Phoenix who teach riding classes over in the parking lot at the downtown dog track, and they all ride Goldwings, maybe one of them......

While I'm certainly no Yellow Wolf, I do own a GW with it's clothes off.

The Valkyrie has a lot in common, and I can say that once you get it rolling at all, the weight dissappears. The flat 6 is so low in the frame that the center of gravity is way down, and you really have a lot of leverage to move it around.

    fun ride......
