Having never had Cortech, I can't comment on their stuff. But, I do have the 1st gear mesh and have loved it for the last 3 years. (I live and ride in Phoenix, AZ. I know HOT!)
I have the pants and jacket and replaced the foam with CE armor. Stuff is still in very good shape after a lot of use. Very good value to me.

Can you tell me where you can buy CE armor to replace foam? I'm wondering if there is CE armor to replace the foam back protector in my jacket. I'm sure the foam would provide some cushion in a fall, but I'd feel better about having the real deal back there.

    Hello,

This is not going to satisfy your quest for information about the new Air II's, but I am more interested in the previous model and would love it if you would share your dealers contact info so that I might call him to see if he still has my size and color for last years model. Good luck in your search for a new jacket. I hear they're great! Thanks.

    Update for you Britt,

I scored a Cortech GX Air jacket off a BMW classified ad that popped up on google. Last years model in XL/46 Very lightly used for $115 shipped. They are about $220 new now. Everything is the same except cosmetics, same armor and leather/mesh construction with both liners. I am in about 97f temps with very high humidity.

I have been wearing mine for a month now in FL heat. I love it, especially once the sun goes down, or in overcast conditions. It is really hot here now and the jacket is comfortable as long as you keep moving. as you could imagine the leather armored spots are hot but I will take the extra protection. I also scored a pair of the Cortech GX air mesh cloves made of the same armor link mesh, and they are great as well. Light in the knuckle armor, but gauntlet style leather that covers the watch/wrist area nicely with leather and still breathes, and excellent dexterity with the fingers.

If anyone is thinking about the jacket I would go for it. It seems like an extra level of protection above any other mesh hot weather jackets I have seen. It feels great as well, I just leave the liners out since it has been Africa hot here. Three kick ass thunderstorms so far, and the armorlink mesh breathes really well, you can ride it dry very quickly.

:thumbsup:I would pay full price for a new one and feel like I got a great piece of gear for the money.

Don't know how I missed this to reply for over a month?!

I got my armor at Cycle Gear for the shoulders, elbows, knees.
I wear a Dainesse back protector under the jacket and removed the foam pad.
Except in July/August when it is 110+ out. Then I put the foam back in and forego the BP for ventilation.
