VFR Top Speed is ????

Ah...with mods.! Then I stand corrected. Stock...I still think there wouldn't be much in it. VFR would be easier though.

 

True! ZX, ridden properly, should well and truly lose a VFR in the bends though.

 

Hehe, most likely. Thing is, it's much easier to use full throttle on a straight, than it is to truly ride a bike to it's limits in the bends, with traffic, so there we were going pretty much the same pace.

I have a 96 vfr rebuilt motor low miles 2 brothers exhaust jetted foreced air induction aftermarket race clutch 93 octane mixed 75% to 25% 110 octane perelli demon tires showa upgraded re tubed and ported port suspension and pollish intake and exhaust over sized radiator veypore guages extrealy accurate w/ shift light ohh and of course its a street fighter maxed out all it had 165mph

Well, I saw an indicated 145mph on my previous (red) 4th gen FT and I did see 10000rpm in top (as iIwas pulling in) on my current silver FT (on the M8 into Edinburgh getting away from 2 clowns in Mercedes who were having an angry car chase that I got caught in the middle of)

My GPS says my current bike is at 69mph at an indicated 5000 rpm in top so that's 138?
To be honest I had probably been nearer the rev limit earlier but was keeping my eye on the road (and the new S class I was keeping up with), I just glanced at the tacho when easing back off out of the outside lane to let them get back to their battle.

This bike has 20k miles and even compared to my previous VFR runs like a train. A mate with an 800Fi can't believe how quick mine rolls off in gear.

 

I've had my 1999 VFR for 1 week now.

I did a daytrip to Edmonton today (picked up some heli bars and visited one of my daughters). Total kilometers traveled - about 650 (just over 400 miles).

Before today, my land speed record was 170 km per hour (about 105 mph)

Twice I took her up to 180 today and once I went to 200 km per hour (125 mph)!

MAn - she felt so stable - could have went faster but that was all the speed this 44 year needs!

 

I've gotten up to 140 mph indicated twice before chickening out. I have an '03 with 26k miles on it. She had more left in her and supposedly will get up to around 155 mph. The double bubble windscreen is probably not helping. That and a power commander are all I have for mods.

 

150 indicated 5th gen w/ full Erion racing exhaust. Still had more to give but ran out of highway.

 

Im actually a little worried after reading a lot of posts here.

I got my 06 to 142. It seemed to get there very easy and had a lot of headroom left in it. What bothers me is it didn't scare me. Seems like most people here are not comfortable over 120.

 

I hear you. I was there too and while I felt quite comfortable (not nervous) but I was aware of how any small issue could cause a BIG problem at that speed. I think that is why many of us visit these speeds very rarely. It is enough for most of us to say we were there a few times. It is not necessary to get there often. My thrills come from fast acceleration from a stop or a slow speed. Now THERE is where I like to visit often. THAT is the performance advantage of a bike. Any decent car can get to a fast top speed but unless you spend megabucks, you cannot accelerate like a moderately-priced bike. Yee haw, Buddha is in the details...and in the acceleration!

 

Was an absolutely gorgeous day in New England yesterday, so of course I had to go for a ride. Happened to find my self on a long, straight, empty strech of road and decided to see how fast it would go. Since I had the GPS I figured I didn't need to warch the speedo, just lowered my head and pinned the throttle. This what my GPS reported when I got home. Must admit I was a bit suprised.

 

Looks like you took a little plane ride with GPS in hand.............. :bs:

 

That would about 366 mph for us using the correct measuring system...

 

I now have made it to 142 indicated. :smile:

 

Fully loaded for touringj

My 4th gen has shown 140 mph on the speedo while fully loaded touring up the empty Cassiar & Alcan Hwys in BC, YT, and AK.

GPS topspeed confirmed it to be 128 mph.

No mods engine mods.

Everything is factory except:
GPS, CATZ driving/fog lights, Givi rack, side, & top cases, Buell foot peg modification, and front fairing removed.

 

45 miles into a 80 mile ride on an 80 degree day...brought her up to 151 indicated.

1998 VFR800:

PCIIIUSB(with k&n stock exhaust map- yeah i'm lazy haven't had it tuned or loaded the staintune map yet), Staintune High Mount, +2 Rear Sprocket (17/45), Iridium Spark Plugs (shouldn't make a difference really) with a 360 lb load.

With nearly 10% error due to the factory speedo calibration and the rear sprocket, the actually speed should be around 135.9 mph. Haven't verified with GPS yet. A friend Just got one so I will do that soon or at least calculate the error specifically. Don't forget this bike was loaded down with 360 lbs of rider/cargo (mostly rider ) and she still had some left in her. I think with a better fuel map she'll max out around 160mph indicated no problem(144 actual -hey what do you know...is that right around what the orignal specs are? lol)

 

Ive had mine for all of 4 or 5 days now, but i ripped her up to 120mph leaving campus the other day just to see what she had. I was pleasantly surprised at what it had. Its a 98 with just a micron pipe. Felt a lil weak compared to my modded RC51 i just sold, but i was still impressed.
