Since we had a thread bashing the chatbox as mindless banter, I thought I would add a more pleasant perspective. I find it very usefull and have learned some things, even about stuff I'm not working on. Drewl's epic chain battle is one that comes to mind....LOL. I have fun shooting the crap with several of ya'll on here. It's also fun to lurk and see some of the BS piled up, it makes for a good laugh. Last night I was chatting with a guy from Australia and I got to thinking how cool it is to talk to other people from around the world. In my short time here I've talked to guys from Canada, Australia, England, Germany, and Hungary. Even typically mundane topics as weather and gas prices are interesting, at least to me. I complain about not being being able to wash my cage due to water issues here. The guy I was talking to in Australia says they are only allowed 36 gallons of water per day per person....WOW! I for one am glad the chat is here to stay, and to quote Forrest Gump.....that's about all I've got to say about that. Lamps to all :biggrin1:
Yes, nice thread Y2k! I have met and chatted with lots of nice folks in the chat room. It can really help ya get to know a person from around the country, and world, a lot better, and helps you share information lots faster.....without it, I would have have an excuse to spend so much time online each day! Besides, how many other MC forums do you know have a chat system such as we have setup? Zero in my experience! Who wants to be like everybody else! We are riding the waves of change! BTW....I read that about the 36 gallons per day. I wonder now long until they institute that in SD. They are talking about mandatory water restrictions....but I digress...
Don't forget our friend from Germany who always comes on either late our time or early in the am.. Anyway, I'm quite sure some form of the chatbox will remain on VFRWorld. In case you guys haven't noticed, we are a little more up-to-date on the geek side of the webworld than other places so if a new gimmick comes out and we like the way it runs, chances are it'll be on here to see how everyone feels about it. After all, how much more effecient has the site become with the new menu system? I know I can navigate much quicker now. I missed the silver buttons for a bit, but now I don't even think about them...
Needless to say I love the chat box too!! I've gotten to know so many of you guys from all over the world, and it sure helps the day go by! I know its also technically for "small talk" but some great tech discussions have also come out of it. One day even the naysayers will become believers!

anyone know why I can not view the chatbox area on some of my computers? I can see the area for it just says loading..... under the chatbox tab (area you would see the chat going on .....says "loading........")
