What do you's guys use to wash your bike. I don't have many plastic parts yet mind you, but I need to get some of the grime off. Thanks:ncb:WAXIN!
mild car wash soap. Rinse gently, dont use high pressure spray. Dry, I used compressed air for those hard to get spots.
If it is really dirty, just car wash soap and water, and then Honda Polish....for most other mildly dirty times, just using Honda Polish (and no water) is my choice. Always use very soft mircofiber clothes, and turn them over frequently. I have a shitload to use. The softer, the better.
Microfiber towels and Honda polish work wonders. Between that and thunder storm wash downs twice a week my bike stays pretty clean. I found a great deal on mf towels, $9 bundle at the local Sams. My HD buddy says baby shampoo is good for a gentle wash. Dish soap for the greasy neathermonkey.
For a dirty bike, a mild auto soap, soft brushes for wheels, lower fairings, etc. MF cloths for top end, windshield, lights, tank, etc. For a medium dirt, like after running through heavy rain or long days, ST100 motorcycle wash works very well. Spray on, rinse off. Looks awesome. Don't love the ST100 motorcycle polish that much . For Superior shine and routine cleaning of instruments, lights, and all parts lovely, PLEXUS. http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/plexus.html Plexus is designed for aircraft and lexan. Exceptional cleaning properties, and very high protection factor. The bike will look just waxed and stay that way a long time. the lenses and windshield will sparkle clear. PLEXUS is the best for helmets as well. They make a tiny version to carry in the tank bag for windshield and helmets. try it! you won't be disappointed. j~
Yes use a car wash soap; dishwashing liquids are ok if you are specifically trying to remove all wax before rewaxing but they are not really good for regualr use. I use some Klasse super gloss shampoo, then if you can feel roughness on the paint maybe give it a going over with clay, then some Klasse all-in-one, and then if desired a coat of Klasse glaze. This first time set of steps can be a little time consuming. But then as long as it is washed at least every few months, you can generally get away with just using klasse spray spritz followed by a klasse spray glanz which provides a quick detail job. This provides a long lasting protection for the paint. This same method works great on cages too.
Duragloss makes a great car wash. I think the prodouct number is 901. I do wheels with eagle spray safe for painted wheels on my powder coated pearl whites. Spray on wipe off then hose off good as new!
I emailed the company and they don't have any distributers in Canada. So for now I use Mothers Carnuba wax and a mild car wash, micro fiber towel dry. I may have to make a trip across the line to get some Honda wax and Plexus. Anyone tried Rainex on your visors?
Years ago I have. Don't get much rain in SD, so not much need to. To me, the problem with that lies in the fact that I always clean my shield before, during, and after a ride from bugs and what not. The Rain-X would be washed right off in no time.
Dryings no problem for me since my wife was a pet groomer and I have a force dryer in the house.:vtr2:
