I'm pissed. I was scheduled for my MSF course, but what I didn't realize was that after the initial day on Wednesday, the following classes are 8-3 on sat and sunday. And I work in a very small custom shop, and could never get a saturday off. (we are open 8-3)

Grr! I looked at EVERY testing location, and all of them would operate while I work. There is one location that is monday/tueday/wed, but I also cannot get three days off!

Grr. I will never learn :(

I'm from dayton ohio, and cannot find anything that fits my schedule, plus EVERYTHING is now on a walk-in only basis. Grr.

I can't, there are only twopeopleto run the business, when we need three or four. I can't leave just one.

Time to join the "too cool for school" class. I'm a proud graduate and I mostly learned by reading on resources online covering various topics such as countersteering, kneedragging, target fixation, etc....

I live in western Ky and apparently there are some alternatives to the traditional MSF course offered in my area. Some coworkers have been telling me that several of the MSF trainers will offer classes during off times for people that can't make the regularly scheduled classes. KC-10 may know whether or not this would be official or not. But the people in my are that offer the classes provide certificates of completion and everything. I'll have to ask around again and get some more specifics. Maybe someone in your area could offer the same deal.

    thanks^.

There are other places that do it, but it costs upwards of $300! The classes I'm looking at cost $25.

You could check out Rider's Edge, held at Harley dealerships. It uses the same curriculum as the BRC, and is usually run on Buell Blasts. Here in CT it's just like the MSF - the state pays for part of tuition, it counts in place of the riding portion of the license test and it qualifies you for the same insurance discounts.

Also worth checking out to gain some skills is Proficient Motorcycling, by David Hough (Amazon.com: Proficient Motorcycling: The Ultimate Guide to Riding Well: David L. Hough: Books). It shows the same fundamental skills you'll practice at the BRC and more.

You may want to call Mid-Ohio race track. They use to have rider classes there at one time or they may have info on them else where. It's worth a shot.

I second Rustbucket's book suggestion. The MSF class is based a lot on the things in Hough's book. He also describes some of the exact exercises you would do in the class. Get that book, a few cones, a friend, and a parking lot.

a lot of the reason for the class, is so I can ride at night time. My job requires me to get there early, sometimes while its still dark. Plus I would like to be able to take the bike to college, to save on gas prices, since its almost 30 miles away.

Any chance you could get a half day off on Saturday? The course I took in Hamilton county (maybe a 45 minute trip from Dayton) had a Wednesday night classroom course, and then Sat & Sun riding courses that met from 1-7. Perhaps you could work from 8-12 on Sat, and then take the course from 1-7.
