I have a question for any of you who have removed the oil filter boss from the block. are the threads the same diameter and pitch as the end that the filter threads onto? i see that it has a small portion without threads seperating the two halves. this is seen both on the part itself and on the micro fisch exploded view. Please help quick! my bike is apart and waiting on this info or an alternate solution before i can get it back together. for those who wish to know i am currently making my own sandwich plate for the oil mod but i am running into a problem. when i made the plate thick enough to use another short piece of pipe threaded for the filter boss coming out the other half i had major clearance issues with the lower radiator mount and the exhaust. so i faced it down to be as thin as i could make it with the current design and still tap into the center bore but now i don't have room to use the short section of the filter boss for the other side and i want to pull the old boss out and just replace it with a longer one made by me. but removing the old one will destroy it. i already tried using two nuts threaded onto the boss to pull it out but the nuts are too thick to get the second one one even a few threads. i need to be sure of what i'm getting my self into before i leave myself high and dry. any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Well i got my answer and i wanted to share just in case someone in the future decides they are crazy enough to make their own sandwich type oil mod and needed to know. the oil filter boss is the same threads on both sides. just seperated so that one side is shorter than the other, short side goes into the block. both are 20mm x 1.5 threads. i want to say thank you to Jamon from blackrhubarb.com. his web write up on his homemade sandwich type oil mod was very helpful in designing and fabricating my own. and he was the one who got me the info i needed, and very quickly i might add. it saved me a lot of time trying to figure something else out.
